Happy September, Dreamers! This month is going to be a very exciting month for BD and as such, we highly recommend checking out this month's event preview. Due to the nature of this month's plot, there will be limited signup slots for certain aspects of the plot so if you're interested in jumping on those, make sure to put your name down!

Like last month, we have no major OOC updates but there are one or two things to watch out for!


⧖ Given the nature of this month's mod plot and the one we have planned for November, we have decided that October and December will not have any mod plots and will instead have some plot threads that players can investigate in a more low-key way. We hope this also gives folks some breathing room around the holidays, given that DWRP as a whole tends to slow down around the winter holidays.

⧖ Event previews are changing a bit! The event timeline from last month was pretty handy and going forward, we'll be incorporating them into the event preview section of the monthly post.


That's all from us! This month's event is a part of the BD plot we've been excited to get rolling since way before the game was launched so we really hope you guys have just as much fun with it as we did cooking it up!






At the beginning of the month, Dreamer Chat starts up a stream.

Hi all you Big Dreamers and lil dreams— Dreamer Chat coming to you live straight from DU with a special edition of —-

[Uh oh. She BOLTS UPRIGHT SO FAST spinning in another direction as she hears a door open somewhere to the side of her. A few seconds why, the cause becomes evident as the sound of no-nonsense footsteps striding over heralds the appearance of Angelica peeking in from offscreen. At first she's scowling, but then her expressions smooths into... well, it's still a scowl, but a less intense one. ]

Okay, you're already streaming. That's handy. [Then she grabs the back of Chat's chair. ] Move.

[ With a hearty shove, Angelica sends Chat spinning off screen, though not without a "Don'tforgettolikeandsubscriiiiiiibe!" for her troubles. Without missing a beat, Angelica pulls up another chair and drops herself into it before regarding the viewers with an expression entirely too serious for all of Dreamer Chat's cute stream overlays. ]

So, this last month has been a tough one. I know it started off all beach parties and fun and games an invite would've been nice I'm just saying but things are starting to get serious. We don't have confirmation on whatever caused the Stabilizer fuck ups but– thanks to everyone's hard work, we're back on top of things. Seriously, I think I saw Chaosbringer and Hanako out there like, every other day? Calm down a little is all I'm saying.

[ ... which is Angelica's way of saying she approves, I guess. ]

The dreams that were at risk seem to have settled in and I've heard word that the Vale will be reconnecting with the Dream Sphere again sometime soon. So long as nothing else happens. So...

[ She trails off. She's got a look on her face like she wants to say something else, but then she shakes her head and continues on. ]

Stay safe. Look out for yourselves and each other. Things are getting strange and I don't want any more of you pulling an Eliza on us. That's all.

[ With that, the stream ends. ]

EVENT INFO & TIMELINE

Ever looked at some of the turn based mechanics on the infopages and gone "well hey what is this all about?"... it's time to find out!

While the Dreamers of Yumemigaoka were running around fixing up things in the Dream Sphere, trouble has been brewing in the Waking World. The idol Mio Kasuga was declared missing in the second half of August and once the month changes, a horrible truth comes to light; the DU have been able to locate not just her Figment but Kasuga herself at the heart of the massive distortion that has been plaguing the Dream Sphere for the last month or so. Fuelled by her feelings, the distortion swallowing Mio has manifested in a massive, sprawling dream the likes of which the DU has never seen before – with the especially dangerous property of affecting the real world if left unchecked. It's up to the Dreamers to dive into this dream, investigate its mysteries and rescue the girl at the heart of it... but just what could be waiting for them there?

The September Event is our first step into the main overarching plot at the heart of Beautiful Dreamer and the first IC occurrence of a phenomenon known as Disturbances. These surreal dreamscapes draw directly on the struggles, fears and emotions of a single character, similar to the TV world dungeons in Persona 4 or the Heartscapes in Blue Reflection Second Light. These large-scale dungeons will tie into the overarching plot of the game as we progress and must be tackled in order to prevent a negative outcome on both the Dream Sphere and Yumemigaoka itself. Scary stuff!

In addition, Disturbances are unique among other Outlying Locations in that they vanish once resolved and incubate extremely powerful enemies at their core who must be defeated to save the person at its heart. And this is where BD's turn based mechanics come in! Disturbance boss battles are where our Boss Tier Combat system finally enters the picture and will require signups beforehand to help keep things organized. For this first instance of Boss Combat, we will be capping participants at four Dreamers with at least one Experienced Dreamer with a Signature Move. Slots are otherwise open to as many Novices who would like to give things a try!

EVENT TIMELINE

⧖ September 1st: The DU issues a press release asking all Dreamers to refrain from non-essential travel to the Dream Sphere for their own safety. Experienced Dreamers in good standing with the DU will receive private confirmation that Mio Kasuga's disappearance is suspected to have something to do with the Dream Sphere... but she isn't a Dreamer. So what gives?

⧖ September 13th: Shortly after the second earthquake strikes Asagi Ward, the DU will confirm to all Dreamers that both earthquakes were caused by a growing distortion in the Dream Sphere with the unique property of influencing the real world. Something strange is beginning to manifest and nobody is quite sure what it is, but the DU issues a warning that all Dreamers should be prepared to enter the Dream Sphere to potentially deal with it in the coming days.

⧖ September 15th: The distortion in the Dream Sphere will finally manifest into a temporary Outlying Location at this point. The DU will confirm that Mio Kasuga has been detected at the heart of it, though they can't confirm anything more than her location and her status. Suspecting that she may be in immense danger, the DU requests that any Dreamers who are capable enter this unusual dream and investigate with the hopes of locating her.

⧖ September 30th: The OOC deadline for Mio Kasuga's rescue from the Dream Sphere.

WORLD UPDATES

September picks up from August with an excessive heat warning going out across the whole city and temperatures absolutely skyrocketing in the aftermath of last month's terrible weather. Like most summers in Yumemigaoka it seems pretty all or nothing with clear skies one day and thunder and lighting the next, though temperatures will continue to climb until the last week of September before finally peaking around the 23rd and beginning to ease off from there into something more pleasantly summery but less likely to leave you in a smoking crater the second you step out to get groceries.

For students, summer vacation will end at the start of the month and school will resume on September 4th.

WORLD EVENTS

⧖ All Month: The DU issues a press release asking all Dreamers to refrain from non-essential travel to the Dream Sphere for their own safety.

⧖ September 1st: Heartbreaking news: Summer vacation is finally over! Students will return to school for a single shorter-than-average day to ease them back in before classes pick back up as usual on the 4th.

⧖ September 3rd: A minor earthquake will affect Asagi Ward, causing minor disruption but no damage.

⧖ September 9th-10th: Pegasus Arcade are holding their legendary bonus weekend, offering players up to 10x more tickets for their favorite machines. Could this be your chance to finally snag whatever you've been eyeing at the prize exchange?!

⧖ September 13th: A second, much stronger earthquake will once again hit Asagi Ward, causing damage and disruption. The DU will issue a statement to all Dreamers confirming that the earthquake was caused by continued disturbances in the Dream Sphere.

⧖ September 15th-25th: The September Event will take place during this timeframe.

⧖ September 21st: A minor car accident causes damage at Koubai Elementary requiring emergency construction to repair the damage. Classes will be held as normal during this time but students should plan to walk a slightly different route to enter the school's premises.

⧖ September 25th: Yumemigaoka Kitties will be bringing their cute, cuddly residents to a pop-up event in Matsuba where potential adopters can meet up with animals they may want to take home!

⧖ September 30th: The outcome of the September Event will be ICly announced.
