Welcome to Beautiful Dreamer's test drive meme! If you're unfamiliar with the game, then you can check out the navigation to get yourself up to speed on all the relevant info pages then check out the most recent AU Planning meme to see what juicy ideas your fellow players are cooking up!
As the prompts in the TDM are based on events from the prior in-game month, the overall TDM is not canon to Beautiful Dreamer though players are free to treat individual CR/threads on this post as canon to their characters if both players are happy to do so. That said, don't feel as though you have to stick entirely to the TDM prompts – you can use them as a springboard or some up with something totally new so long as it fits into the world of Beautiful Dreamer!
Dreamers on the TDM will have access to all of their starter powers as outlined on the powers page as well as two unique abilities to play around with as you please.
Some prompts and location details have been provided below for you to play around with but please feel free to go hog wild and have fun!
YUMEMIGAOKA
As if apologizing for the miserable weather the month prior, June comes through sunny and bright! It might still be blustery and damp out with some scattered showers but the skies are blue and clear and that summer heat is starting to creep in.May comes rolling in full of blustery winds and heavy rain, blowing away the sleepy spring atmosphere with aplomb! While the second half of the month perks up a little and there's more sunshine to be seen, the first half of May is decidedly dreary and wet. Hopefully nobody's plans fall through on account of all this miserable weather...
- ⧖ It's Yumemigaoka Rainbow Pride Weekend! Yumemigaoka's Pride event falls in June and lasts over a whole weekend with a fun and lively festival held over at Yotsuba Park. There's live music, tasty foods and a whole mountain of cool things to buy from vendors and small businesses. Unsurprisingly, there's a whole lot of Dreamers milling around the event and overall the whole thing just seems like a good, fun time. Just don't get too overheated rocking out at the soundstage or shopping til you drop!
⧖ You're stranded! Thanks to last month's horrible weather, a number of train stations around the city have closed for repairs up and down the city leaving huge holes in the usually reliable train schedule. Of course, this happens to be just as you need to get somewhere important... there's still buses and taxis on the roads so maybe you need to fight a fellow passenger to get on one of those, or maybe you're just accepting your fate and vibing at the station until a good replacement train comes along...
⧖ Matsuba World Market is extending their Golden Week sale to clear out the last of their spring merchandise which means their already low prices are absolutely rock bottom and it's caused a bit of a frenzy over at the market! With this many bargains afoot, are you really going to be able to pick up that cheap spice rack without throwing a few hands first?!
THE DREAM SPHERE
In contrast to the Waking World, the weather over in the Dream Sphere is absolutely miserable once again, bucketing rain all over the Dream Sphere no matter where you are. At least you know your clothes and hair are going to be warm and dry once you pop back over to the other side, but that doesn't make the time you're spending here any less of a horrible endurance test! Fight on, Dreamers!!!
As usual, the emotions stirring over in the Waking World have begun funnelling into the Dream Sphere and causing all manner of problems here and there. Torments and Nightmares won't hunt themselves so be sure to properly scout out all the available locations of the Dream Sphere you can access just in case - maybe you'll find a new teammate to work with while you're out there!
In particular, it looks like trouble can be found...
- ⧖ At Fury Peak, things are NOT cool and chill!!! You'd hope that the downpour from above might have cooled things down just a little but instead, we appear to be dealing with a sauna situation. Every time raindrops strike the superheated rock of the mountains and volcano, they turn into a thick steam that has coalesced into fog and turned navigating the place into a real task, even for a fully prepared Dreamer. To make matters worse, a group of particularly aggressive Torments made out of volcano glass and black rock are gathering and ganging up on any Dreamer they see. Torments at Fury Peak are even more foul tempered than usual and they're hitting especially hard today so you better act fast and deal with them ASAP!
⧖ In the Vale of Sorrow, all this rain is having a bizarre effect on the scenery around you. It's always damp and dismal here but with the new torrents of rain refusing to let up, it looks like the place is at serious risk of flooding! While the water seems like it might remain ankle deep, if you stay too long then you run the risk of an out-of-nowhere tidal wave crashing over you and knocking your feet out from under you... and the nasty Torments lurking and swimming under the waves just might take the opportunity to jump you while you're down...
Serena | Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V | Dreamer Lunalight
[You know, if someone had told her that the first thing she would've been doing after moving to Yumemigaoka was dealing with trying to score some cheap buys at a store... well, she would've called you a liar because the first thing she actually did after getting to where she was staying was transform and jump into the Dream Sphere and even before she got here she knew that was what she was going to do.
But the second thing she's doing is trying to score some cheap stuff, and that's almost something she would've said someone was crazy for telling her she would do. Now she could fight people over things, but honestly that was quite a bit of work when there was an easier way to deal with the mad dash that had become the market. And this would probably also avoid her getting arrested her first week here for attacking (probable) civilians.
Anyway, Serena's super secret technique to scoring the good sales and not fighting people about it? Duck in and take it when the people who are fighting over it put it down to yell at each other, obviously.
Unfortunately, that gets her yelled at and chased by those couple of shoppers. Said technique could use a little work.]
If you didn't want someone else to take it you two shouldn't have put it down!
[Dreamsphere - Fury Peak]
[...Okay, maybe coming into the Dream Sphere alone and going to a place that was super hot and barely possible to see in wasn't really a good idea. Well, whatever, Dreamer Lunalight was going to make quick work of the glass/rock torments that were trying to smash her into the really hot ground even through all of the steam that made it barely possible for her to dodge any attacks from the monsters.
Yes, it was the steam that was the problem, and not her for getting thrown into the air by a volcano torment. Fortunately, she wasn't hurt from it and her dreamer outfit wasn't damaged either. Sure it would be perfectly fine next time she transformed but she liked having her outfit not exploded.
...Look the red jacket looked really good on her okay.
But anyway, Torments to fight, and Lunalight quickly pulls a card out of her pocket, focusing on it as it glows with a whitish blue light.]
Come to me my monster ally and let us destroy these enemies. Lunalight Blue Cat!
[With that chant, the card erupts light shooting in front of Dreamer Lunalight and taking the shape of a person. A person with what looks like cat ears and a tail, but still more person than monster. At least until a golden thing of light spins around and forms into the shape of a moon on her chest, the light fading as she jumps into the air before landing on the ground in a martial arts-esque stance. The summoned "monster" is wearing a leotard and boots with flowing attachments and also only has a single full sleeve on. But it's not long before the monster is jumping and snapping a leg out at the nearest torment.
And Blue Cat was pretty strong, so the torment went flying. Towards someone else, because it's hard to tell where throw/kick things when you can't really see a lot until things are close. But it's right about then that Serena notices what's going to happen.]
Get out of the way!
Dreamsphere
Not that Yuzu is even really sure what her theme is. Her outfit seems to be flower-themed, what with the flower attached to her short skirt and the longer flowing one on top that's almost like a petal... all of that she's actually quite fond of, actually, but then her weapon turned out to be a strange multicolored sword...
All in all, Yuzu is still trying to figure herself out... so heading into Fury Peak is definitely a bad idea but... what if her apparent lookalike is in trouble?
That's what Yuzu is thinking at least... until a Torment is suddenly flying at her. ]
Kyah...!!
[ She pulls out her sword on reflex, swinging it out at the incoming Torment and fortunately managing to smack it away... the sword in question briefly swirling with dark red flames. ]

Or the other dreamer can bat the volcanic torment away with a sword like it's a bat. Sure, why not.
Either way, Lunalight Blue Cat doesn't seem like she's confused at all by this turn of events, and pounces again. ]
Make sure you don't knock it into someone this time!
[That order clearly given out, Lunalight turns her attention to the other Dreamer, running over to her to make sure that the other woman doesn't end up out of sight again. Other than the red jacket she's wearing, the rest of her outfit is more blue and white, with a skirt and leggings under said skirt. The white glittered almost like stars in the sky except when it's patterned more in the shape of the moon.]
Sorry about that! I thought that I was the only one here! Is your sword okay? [Maybe she should've asked if the girl was okay but she was still standing and Dreamers were resilient, so she was probably fine. Maybe just shocked. ]

[ Yuzu manages to steady herself as the other Dreamer runs over. She wasn't expecting to have to fight a Torment so soon... though it looks like she's mostly butted in on another Dreamer's fight. Though it's strange that a Dreamer would be out here by themselves...
...then she looks up and sees her face. ]

[ For a second, Yuzu thinks that she's looking into a mirror. ]

That was definitely her face staring back at her. The hairstyle was different and the hair and eye color was different but that was a face she saw in the mirror every day. How the hell is that pos-
Serena's thought was interrupted but a scream of... something from her summon, and Serena's attention quickly turns to her monster to see that now there were not one, but two volcano torments staring her monster down. ]
Tch, couldn't you have waited for your own turn!? Blue Cat, let's show them how rude they're being!
[And with that, Serena runs towards the torments, hands already glowing with a blue-white light. Maybe she was gambling a bit too much with her attack, one she hadn't really used all that much before. But if she didn't do anything Blue Cat would be overwhelmed and she had no idea what mystery dreamer was really capable of besides using a sword as a bat.
Either way, she thrust her arms forward as she got closer, the white light shooting out as a beam towards the torment.]
Lunalight Beam!
[The beam itself was rather small, but the force of the blast was enough to send the torment it hit staggering backwards and not attacking Blue Cat, which was really all that she needed to worry about right now. ]

H-Hey!
[ Annnnnd her lookalike is already rushing forward with an attack. It looks like she's fighting with some kind of summoned familiar, and they seem to be handling themselves fine... but that attack of Serena's only managed to send the Torment staggering slightly.
They are out of their depth. ]
What are you doing!? They're way too strong for us, we need to...! Gyah...!
[ And as if to prove her point, another Torment appears from out of the steam. Yuzu is quick to slash it away, but it still landed a hit. ]
S-Spiral Flame...!!
[ She follows up by thrusting her sword out at the Torment, a swirling stream of flame shooting out at the Torment... but while it's not ineffective, it doesn't do much either. ]

Her Lunalight Blue Cat lets out a strangle meow at that, but Serena doesn't take long to get her bearings again, backflipping in the air and landing on her feet and hands when she lands. ]
What are you talking about? These are just torments! If they weren't made of rock Blue Cat and I would've taken them out already!
[And as if that was a cue, more volcano torments appeared around them. They must have been at around six of them now. ]
...Okay. Maybe things are starting to get a little dicey, but I'm not going to be giving up now! [Not when they're finally letting her go out and fight on her own.
And it's not like she's tapped yet either. She reaches into the pocket of her jacket, and pulls out another card.]
Rabbit of the moon, come to my aid and vanquish these torments! Lunalight White Rabbit!
[The card exploded out into light, shooting forward and taking the shape of another woman, this one wearing a greenish jumpsuit and holding a white mallet with a golden half-moon faceplate over it's eyes along with another moon decoration on it's chest with white hair that went up like bunny ears. Or maybe it wasn't hair or fur and was more of a clothing thing. Even for Serena it was hard to tell sometimes.
The White Rabbit doesn't waste any time either, quickly slamming it's mallet into a nearby torments head, causing a rather loud noise as cracks started to form in it's head.
...Okay, yeah, maybe she should rely less on habit. If she had started with the White Rabbit they'd probably be in a better position now, even if in general Blue Cat was stronger overall.]

[ Agh, her flames barely even did anything to the Torment. Which makes sense, honestly. Yuzu's technically not a novice, but fire is a bad matchup against these obsidian-like Torments. Maybe if she were stronger it would be fine, but...
This time, though, she sees the way Serena summons a familiar. She pulled out... a card? But that's... ]
Kh...!
[ She blocks another attack from the Torments with her sword. Now really isn't the time to be focusing on the similarities between herself and her lookalike! She quickly pulls out a glowing card herself, seemingly materializing out of light into her hand as she throws it. ]
Opera, to me!
[ The card explodes into light the same way Serena's does, though the being that appears from the light isn't like Serena's. What appears is a small, childlike fairy.
Before anybody can question what use such a small summon could do, one of the Torments attacks the fairy... and is promptly sent flying backwards as the fairy—extremely startled by the sudden attack—frantically puts her hands up and forms a barrier of light that promptly repels the Torment. ]
We're out of our depth here! We're barely hurting them, and more are showing up!
[ This is not the time to be stubborn! ]

That was a summon. How the hell does her lookalike have her summoning power?!
Not that she really has much more time to think about that before the other girl is yelling at her to run again.]
Do you seriously try to run whenever something seems kinda tough?!
[Blue Cat and White Rabbit take the chance to attack another torment together, hammer smashing into it's face with another crack right before Blue Cat jumps and kicks it in the same spot. And finally there seems to be some progress, with the torment shattering into pieces. ]
See, I have this perfectly handl-
[Serena's then interrupted by another torment whacking her in the stomach with it's arm and sending her skidding back from the force of the strike. She's still standing and not quite hurt, but, well, there are still a lot of torments around... ]

That said, after Serena gets whacked in the stomach by one of the Torments, Yuzu finally gets enough of a reprieve to speak again and— ]
Can't you see we're no match for them right now!? You're just going to get yourself hurt at this rate!!
[ Crap, now she isn't even sure how they're going to get out of this mess... seeing as how they're completely surrounded in all of this steam. It took all of that work to defeat one Torment, and Serena's summons are decidedly stronger than Yuzu's in terms of offensive power...
...crap, she has a really bad idea, but it might give them a chance to get out of here alive. It's something she's not able to control, but provided that Serena cooperates, it should be fine. ]
...I'm going to summon something big. When I do, you need to grab me and get us out of here...!
[ She says, pulling out a card that has a distinctly different glow compared to the ones that she and Serena have pulled out so far. ]
