Welcome to Beautiful Dreamer's test drive meme! If you're unfamiliar with the game, then you can check out the navigation to get yourself up to speed on all the relevant info pages then check out the most recent AU Planning meme to see what juicy ideas your fellow players are cooking up!
As the prompts in the TDM are based on events from the prior in-game month, the overall TDM is not canon to Beautiful Dreamer though players are free to treat individual CR/threads on this post as canon to their characters if both players are happy to do so. That said, don't feel as though you have to stick entirely to the TDM prompts – you can use them as a springboard or some up with something totally new so long as it fits into the world of Beautiful Dreamer!
Dreamers on the TDM will have access to all of their starter powers as outlined on the powers page as well as two unique abilities to play around with as you please.
Some prompts and location details have been provided below for you to play around with but please feel free to go hog wild and have fun!
YUMEMIGAOKA
As if apologizing for the miserable weather the month prior, June comes through sunny and bright! It might still be blustery and damp out with some scattered showers but the skies are blue and clear and that summer heat is starting to creep in.May comes rolling in full of blustery winds and heavy rain, blowing away the sleepy spring atmosphere with aplomb! While the second half of the month perks up a little and there's more sunshine to be seen, the first half of May is decidedly dreary and wet. Hopefully nobody's plans fall through on account of all this miserable weather...
- ⧖ It's Yumemigaoka Rainbow Pride Weekend! Yumemigaoka's Pride event falls in June and lasts over a whole weekend with a fun and lively festival held over at Yotsuba Park. There's live music, tasty foods and a whole mountain of cool things to buy from vendors and small businesses. Unsurprisingly, there's a whole lot of Dreamers milling around the event and overall the whole thing just seems like a good, fun time. Just don't get too overheated rocking out at the soundstage or shopping til you drop!
⧖ You're stranded! Thanks to last month's horrible weather, a number of train stations around the city have closed for repairs up and down the city leaving huge holes in the usually reliable train schedule. Of course, this happens to be just as you need to get somewhere important... there's still buses and taxis on the roads so maybe you need to fight a fellow passenger to get on one of those, or maybe you're just accepting your fate and vibing at the station until a good replacement train comes along...
⧖ Matsuba World Market is extending their Golden Week sale to clear out the last of their spring merchandise which means their already low prices are absolutely rock bottom and it's caused a bit of a frenzy over at the market! With this many bargains afoot, are you really going to be able to pick up that cheap spice rack without throwing a few hands first?!
THE DREAM SPHERE
In contrast to the Waking World, the weather over in the Dream Sphere is absolutely miserable once again, bucketing rain all over the Dream Sphere no matter where you are. At least you know your clothes and hair are going to be warm and dry once you pop back over to the other side, but that doesn't make the time you're spending here any less of a horrible endurance test! Fight on, Dreamers!!!
As usual, the emotions stirring over in the Waking World have begun funnelling into the Dream Sphere and causing all manner of problems here and there. Torments and Nightmares won't hunt themselves so be sure to properly scout out all the available locations of the Dream Sphere you can access just in case - maybe you'll find a new teammate to work with while you're out there!
In particular, it looks like trouble can be found...
- ⧖ At Fury Peak, things are NOT cool and chill!!! You'd hope that the downpour from above might have cooled things down just a little but instead, we appear to be dealing with a sauna situation. Every time raindrops strike the superheated rock of the mountains and volcano, they turn into a thick steam that has coalesced into fog and turned navigating the place into a real task, even for a fully prepared Dreamer. To make matters worse, a group of particularly aggressive Torments made out of volcano glass and black rock are gathering and ganging up on any Dreamer they see. Torments at Fury Peak are even more foul tempered than usual and they're hitting especially hard today so you better act fast and deal with them ASAP!
⧖ In the Vale of Sorrow, all this rain is having a bizarre effect on the scenery around you. It's always damp and dismal here but with the new torrents of rain refusing to let up, it looks like the place is at serious risk of flooding! While the water seems like it might remain ankle deep, if you stay too long then you run the risk of an out-of-nowhere tidal wave crashing over you and knocking your feet out from under you... and the nasty Torments lurking and swimming under the waves just might take the opportunity to jump you while you're down...
Hibiki Tachibana | Senki Zesshou Symphogear
[1] Yumemigaoka - Pride!!
[ Hibiki is positively decked out in pride merchandise. She's got quite a few flags of various different colors so that she's supporting all kinds of sexualities, but seeing as how Hibiki is decidedly one of the most outright lesbians you'll ever meet... you'd better believe that she's decked out in plenty of orange, pinks, and whites.Still, celebrating pride is one thing... but Hibiki is mainly here for the fact that Ai Hoshino herself is performing!! Ai Hoshino! Hibiki is very openly a fan of idols in general, but Ai Hoshino is definitely high up on that list.
Unfortunately it looks like she's ended up arriving a little late. The music and performances haven't started yet, but they're going to start soon... and Hibiki is having trouble finding a good seat. ]
Aah, um... is this seat taken?
[ She asks, clearly hopeful. ]
[2] Yumemigaoka - Flower
[ Anybody who knows Hibiki knows that she's a voracious eater. Honestly, how she manages to keep her figure is a mystery to all. That said, while Hibiki is far from picky... there is one place in Yumemigaoka where Hibiki is a very frequent visitor whenever she wants something tasty.That place would be Flower, a modest little restaurant run by a kind old woman who is well known for her prized Okonomiyaki recipe. Something that Hibiki has on various occasions tried to replicate... but it never came out right, and in the first place, Hibiki... isn't exactly a good cook.
Still, that just means that she has to bring her friends over to Flower, right? Seriously, if you know Hibiki long enough, at some point she will try to drag you over to Flower for food.
Which might be why you're here, watching Hibiki dig into the pancake-dish with an honest-to-god blissful smile on her face. ]
[3] Dream Sphere - Fury Peak
[ The steam is not fun to try and navigate through... but somebody has to do it! And one of those somebody's is apparently Hibiki Tachibana... or rather, Dreamer Gungnir.Sparkly orange dress, long flowing white scarf, white and orange gauntlets on both fists... she's surrounded by three rocky Torments, seemingly made of obsidian and covered in spikes almost like shards of glass. ]
Hup...!
[ One Torment charges, Hibiki immediately flips into the air... landing perfectly nearby as the other two Torments charge at where she's landed. ]
HAH!!
[ Unfortunately for them, as Hibiki is landing, she does a quick spin... and as she does, her long flowing scarf glows orange as it swings around. The glowing scarf smacks both Torments away, but before they can even hit the ground again, Hibiki regains her balance and suddenly leaps at one of the Torments that just charged her, and...! ]
SEIYAAAAAHHH!!
[ She slams her fist into the rock-like Torment, causing it to crack and shatter into pieces in one go. ]
One down...!
Wildcard!!
[ Hello! I'mIn any case! If you wanna plot any AU things for your character and Hibiki, I have a plotting post for her right here! I've been fleshing Hibiki out more with the friends who have recommended this game to me, but there's still plenty of room to work with! ]

[ Jeannette is not wearing any Pride merch. Jeannette is not even wearing a B-Komachi T-shirt. Jeannette dressed up like she was going to Mass, because that seemed polite for going to a concert, and is looking forward to seeing her Dreamer Union Mentor perform (so she is a singer...! Jeannette loves songs!) but other than that has no idea what this event is about. "Love is love"...? That seems self-evident, does it not? Love is a virtue, and a gift from God!
So because this girl clearly knows what she's doing way more than Jeannette, and therefore should have a prime spot for the concert: ]

[ And so, Hibiki slides into the seat next to Jeannette. It should also be noted that Hibiki is carrying with her a truly staggering amount of snacks crammed into a single bag, covered in various pride memoriabilia for the occasion. Plus a few glowsticks for once the concert starts.
She gives Jeannette a quick once-over before extending her hand to the other girl. ]
My name's Hibiki! Tachibana Hibiki! Is this your first time at a concert?
[ She's guessing that's the case since, unlike most people here, Jeannette isn't exactly dressed like any of the other concert-goers here. ]

[ The hand is shaken rather firmly for a girl who looks as....Jeannette...as Jeannette does. ]
I am new to this, yes. Do you mind explaining what everything you brought is for?
[ She doesn't regret dressing up, but if there's something else she's supposed to do to cheer on her Mentor, she must learn! ]

[ She says excitedly... as if it weren't very obvious that Jeannette isn't Japanese. Either way, Jeannette shakes her hand very firmly... and surprisingly enough, Hibiki shakes it back just as firmly! Seeing as how she promptly clasps her other hand around Jeannette's in order to do so.
They've... they've joined hands...]Oh, of course! Where to start... oh! You don't have any glowsticks! Well, don't you worry, I've got spares!
[ She promptly starts to rummage around inside her bag before pulling out two glowsticks and shoving them into Jeannette's hands. ]
When the music starts, you hit the little button on the side to turn them on! The colors change when you press it again... and since this is your first time, just make sure it's the same color as everybody else! You wave it in the air along with the song!
[ That doesn't even get into all of the other things that Hibiki is quite literally wearing right now... but oh well. ]

[ Jeannette decides to practice this ahead of time. This button...? Ah! And then, to change the color....
Hah! She did it!
Jeannette cycles through the colors, smiling. If everyone has these, then the audience will be lit with a million tiny stars....She can see why that might make a concert more splendid. Are there churches, she wonders, that use glowsticks during hymns? To better create a beautiful scene of worship for God...? ]

And then she proceeds to go into the restaurant, right past the greeter, and stare with stomach growling, crouched behind another table with her head poking over the top as she watches.
Someone's hungry and also has no idea what to do at a restaurant.]

[ She looks around, trying to see if she might be looking at something or someone else... but nope, she's definitely looking at Hibiki. ]

[She ducks behind the table and looks around frantically. Very slowly, she raises her head a little again.]

[ She has questions about why she isn't just ordering some herself... but oh well! Eating with company is always better than eating alone anyway! ]

[The girl comes over to the table, puts her face right up to sniff the okonomiyaki, and grabs a set of chopsticks and starts clumsily eating.]

[ It's important to eat when you're hungry, after all! It sounds like common sense, but it's something that Hibiki thinks is important to live by. ]

[She pauses in the middle of inhaling the food. Scratches behind her ear.]
I woke up on a hill. I don't remember anything else. I guess it's kinda like that amnesia stuff you hear about off TV. Which makes it sound cool, huh?
3 - lmk if anything needs changing!
[ Someone from behind Hibiki calls out, and a strangely glowing-dark spark floats out in the air between her and the remaining Torments. It bursts silently into a small blacklight firework of sorts, bathing her and the Torments in its dark glow: Hibiki will feel a sense of reassurance and encouragement - even if she already knew she had this, now she'll really be certain of it! There's just a feeling that everything will be ok!
The Torments meanwhile, seem to lose a touch of their previous hostility - it's not gone entirely, but they've chilled out a bit... and also developed some cracks? They should be even easier for her to take down now.
Another Dreamer lunges forward, striking at one of the cracks with a black crystal fencing saber, further damaging that Torment. The Dreamer moves without words, the long tails of his vest and long trailing fabric from the bow on his crown both billowing out behind him dramatically.
If she's visited the DU recently, she might recognize this as the newly-joined Dreamer Shadow - alternatively, if she was active in the Dream Sphere about three years back, she might mistake him for a certain Dreamer Dark Prince; either way, looks like she's gotten an ally for this fight. ]
