Player Name: Crow Contact:timelessmage or PM here Introduction: Hey everyone, I'm Crow, still a pretty new face in DWRP! Despite the anxieties, I am just trying to Vibe out here. Big fan of video games, and really anything with a good story/characters to sink my teeth into.
Character Name: Frieren Canon: Sousou no Frieren
About: AU name: Chifuyu (last name pending) AU age: 22 Dreamer name: Dreamer Frieren
CW: memory loss, parent death
- Frieren was born from a German father and a Japanese mother who was a Dreamer. - She was raised in Japan by her mother after her father returned to his home country. - When Frieren was 6 years old, she was attacked by a Nightmare. In an attempt to protect Frieren, her mother lost her memories. Frieren was able to finish off the weakened Nightmare, Awakening in the process. - Frieren was then raised by Flamme, an elderly, distant relative and one of the first Dreamers to ever Awaken. Despite the initial shock, Frieren appeared to adapt quickly. - Flamme homeschooled Frieren and mentored her in Dreamer matters as well. They lived a rather uneventful life together, and Frieren spent very little time among her peers (Flamme did offer opportunities, but Frieren was never interested). - Frieren took care of Flamme in her final years. Frieren was 22 when Flamme died. - Less than a month after Flamme passed away, Frieren got attacked by a Nightmare. She eventually fended it off, but the resulting memory loss made her unable to use Flamme's favorite Dreamer power anymore: growing flowers. Though this was the only memory she lost, it was a shock to her system. - Frustrated by her inability to relearn this power on her own and needing to find a job to support herself, Frieren moved to Yumemigaoka using Flamme's modest inheritance in order to join the DU as a full-time experienced Dreamer and Dream Sphere researcher. - There, she hopes to figure out a way to relearn her mentor's lost magic and prevent Nightmare attacks so such a thing doesn't happen again.
Frieren looks younger than she actually is, and her behavior makes her age even harder to pin down. As an experienced Striker Archetype Dreamer, she is serious, competent, and focused, with a skillset centered around stealthily identifying threats and taking them down—preferably in one shot. Alas, her Waking World self is not so well put together. She seems obsessed with all things Dream Sphere, with a particular focus on learning more about Dreamer powers and Nightmares… at the detriment of pretty much everything else, from pop culture to basic social etiquette.
In part because of her upbringing and in part because she's just Like That, Frieren is an oddball. She emotes very little and she tends to speak bluntly. It's easy to read her as cold and detached, but deep down, she truly cares for those she trusts, even if she has a hard time understanding feelings—both her own and that of others.
If you asked her if she's lonely, she would say "no" without hesitation, and she would be very wrong. She doesn't understand the point of relationships with others, and would confidently claim that she does not care to have them. For instance, why take an apprentice when they could so easily get attacked by a Nightmare and forget everything she's taught them? (Trauma? In my Frieren? It's more likely than you think!)
She may say hurtful things without realizing, but she's not cruel. If you sit her down and let her know, she'll go to great lengths to make amends and avoid doing it in the future. She's also pretty nonjudgmental and accepting of nonconventional folks (being one herself)! Honestly, she may not even notice your eccentricities…
Fun facts about Frieren: - She is an awful singer. - She's bad at using technology and prefers to handwrite things. - She eats out all the time. - She's rather time blind and has a tendency to oversleep. - And she's (usually) pretty shameless!
Plans: Short Term: Frieren is going to be settling into Yumemigaoka and her full-time DU job. This is a lot of firsts for her, on top of dealing with the grief of losing Flamme, so she could use some support… not that she'll ask for it. Initially, her goal will be to figure out how to relearn Flamme's flower magic. There's a specific reason why she's stuck, and an outside perspective might help with that! I don't anticipate this taking more than a few months but who knows.
Long Term: Once she figures out the flower growing magic, whether by herself or with others' assistance, Frieren will gain more of an interest in relationships with others, and particularly preserving the memory of them through magic and dispatching Nightmares. My goal is for Frieren to open up and achieve a more reasonable balance between her Waking World and Dream Sphere selves. I also hope for her to eventually process the grief of losing her mother and Flamme.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: - Any castmates would be lovely, though I'm not getting my hopes up. Himmel would be my number one wish, followed by Fern and Stark.
- Experienced Dreamer peers, in particular social types that will nag her and make her come out of her shell a little! She might need a little push to consider taking on a mentorship role and I feel like they'd be perfect for it.
- Apprentices! Flamme was a good mentor, and Frieren inherited that skill and a taste for teaching, though she is not initially aware of it. She has a good understanding of how to develop and use powers in the Dream Sphere (except for her flower magic blind spot cough cough). She may seem harsh and no-nonsense, especially if you sell yourself short out of a lack of self-confidence, but she's a good judge of her apprentices' skill level. If she deems you strong enough to deal with something, she will put her full faith in you.
- Fellow researchers! As a researcher, she is diligent and thorough. She can often be found in the Dream Sphere observing others' practice, experimenting with her own powers, or even sparring with fellow Dreamers.
- Dream Sphere combat buddies! Frieren is a glass cannon Striker, so Saver and Sentry teammates would be ideal, but I'm not picky.
- In general, anyone who will be patient with her lack of social skills, eccentricities, and accidental rudeness. If your character can realize that she's a profoundly lonely person with a tendency to self-isolate by burying herself in the Dream Sphere at the detriment of her Waking World life, please have them befriend my weirdo (affectionate).
- A roommate to split the rent with and help keep her bad habits in check, maybe??
- Literally any other CR. Feel free to share any ideas that don't fit the above!
Frieren 🤝 Ai The anime adaptation of their manga has a Yoasobi OP
I feel like they could definitely get some nice CR going! With Frieren being as sheltered as she is, I was thinking it’d be fun for Frieren to have NO CLUE who Ai is, or any understanding of what makes her secret scandal so.... scandalous (if she ever catches wind of it). And also Frieren, in her quest to learn all sorts of magic, is definitely going to try to copy Ai's singing powers at some point. This will go horribly wrong.
OH THAT COULD BE SO CUTE... my goal over the next month or so has been to get her some more solid friendships w the other adults around the DU so having someone who doesn't necessarily know her as Ai The Idol even if they know she's an important senpai at work could be a really good jumping off point for that!!
she'll support frieren's singing aspirations too. even if they go.... not so great
hahaha I have two profoundly lonely characters so they can idk be lonely together? Shinsha is an experienced Dreamer with no social skills so they wouldn't be too bothered by Frieren's eccentricities, and they're kind of a tank with a similar focused combat style, so they'd be a good match there too! They're about to graduate from high school and have noooo idea what to do. And Ango is a relatively new Dreamer who works as a part-time DU research assistant when he's not slacking off, drinking or committing petty crimes, so they'll probably encounter each other at some point!
I'm super down to throw Frieren at your guys and see what happens!! Hmm let's see…
I could see Frieren helping Shinsha with their self-esteem, maybe! She would have an easier time physically avoiding them in the Dream Sphere since she has tons of experience with Dream Sphere navigation/movement and has something of a sixth sense there, so Shinsha may feel more confident fighting around her? She would be interested in studying their powers (as with anyone else really) and would find them fascinating.
Shinsha liking plants is also interesting because of Flamme! Frieren thinks she can relearn Flamme's flower-growing magic by just… practicing really hard in the Dream Sphere, but in actuality, that particular power is unlocked by actually planting and caring for flowers in the Waking World, which isn't even on her radar right now. Maybe Shinsha could give Frieren the idea to try that, directly or indirectly?
As for Ango… In Frieren's canon, one of the members of the hero party that Frieren travels with, Heiter, is a hedonistic priest who loves to drink, and she's always calling him Corrupt Priest (affectionate). Even though she's much, much older than him, he kind of acts dad-like toward her. There's a little more than just that going on, and obviously Heiter and Ango aren't 1:1 identical (far from it) but the similarities make me really curious to see how they'd get along! I feel like they could become weirdly close friends. Also, Frieren's got a pretty self-interested attitude toward Dreamer things, very different from Ango's impression that DU exploits young people. …I would have more to say but I am so so sleepy and I just want to post this before I pass out haha.
ahaha Shinsha would be so upset by the idea of anyone finding their powers fascinating... but Shinsha literally running away from social situations is becoming a bit of a running joke. And I love the idea of them bonding over plants! Especially since if powers ever become a thing in the real world, Shinsha won't be able to do any gardening themself...
looool Ango fits into the role of corrupt priest a little too well... I've been watching the Frieren anime and Heiter is 100% My Kind Of Dude. I think they'd get along great, and possibly have some interesting minor disagreements!
Aww poor Shinsha… If that's something you'd be down for, I feel like Frieren (assuming she and Shinsha end up hitting it off) might try to figure out a way for them to contain their mercury or make it harmless to anything that's not a Torment or a Nightmare!
Yessss the Frieren anime has been SO good. I'm glad you see the Heiter similarities too!! And yeah I agree. I'm really excited to get into the game and throw my girl at this disaster man!
Hello!! I open my arms wide for this colleagues CR. Now I'm picturing Frieren and Kozakura sharing an office at the DU or something. does kozakura have an office, i think it would be funny if she did
Kozakura works from home as much as humanly possible. Which means she probably doesn't even have a dedicated office and just ends up shuffled around workstations when she's in the building rofl
What's Kozakura main area of expertise? Frieren's focused on the mechanism of learning Dreamer powers, as well as analyzing Nightmares so they can more efficiently be taken down. Frieren has been a Dreamer for a really long time but her knowledge is definitely more on the instinctual/insular end of things. Curious how that'll mesh with Kozakura!
Kozakura's a cognitive scientist, so she's more focused on how perception shapes experiences in the Dream Sphere. She very much takes a studious, scientific approach to her work, but she appreciates other branches of study and other approaches when they work.
Yesss please socialize my weird elf!! I'd love to be tagged by Hibiki whenever!
Honestly, if Frieren legit tries to learn how to use singing-based powers, I think she's just going to end up unlocking some kind of AOE sound attack instead.... if her fellow dreamers don't beg her to stop before she can get anywhere with it. her being an awful singer isn't even canon it's just something i thought would be funny
The nonzero number of musical dreamers here in Yumemigaoka must mean something… honestly she’s such a weird lil creature that you could probably tell me almost any funny headcanon about her and I’d probably believe it.
Anyways! Just leave it to Hibiki to befriend this strange sad creature she met in the dream sphere… and she may or may not accidentally think Frieren is younger than she actually is, not that it’d stop her either way—
It's definitely going to pique her curiosity at some point or another! Whether this is before or after she starts to want to try and learn other dreamers' powers (because this is absolutely going to happen) remains to be seen.
She 100% would befriend someone younger! In canon, her extremely long lifespan alienates her from humans, but in the AU she's obviously Normal Aged and she wasn't really raised in such a way that she picked up on like... age-based differences in social interactions?? She spent most of her life only interacting with a weird grandma, so she acts a bit like a weird grandma herself while only being 22. She doesn't know how to use a smartphone except for, like, texting. Please help her.
Player Name: Fuzz Contact:fuzzed Introduction: hi im fuzz and i am shy
Character Name: Okuyasu Nijimura Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
About: This AU is still being cooked up as I familiarize myself with the lore, but here goes! CW for references to child abuse.
Okuyasu is a sixteen-year old delinquent boy with a huge heart and a lot of self-worth issues. He's rough aronud the edges — having an angry streak that leads him to punch first and ask questions later. He, by his own admission, isn't smart. He's very sweet to his friends. He gets embarrassed around cute girls. And, recently, he came to Yumemigaoka with his father and brother. The three of them squatted in a filthy, boarded-up building in a more suburban area. And... he's doing his best to learn about and even approach Dreamers, and someday soon, he will become a Dreamer himself.
Okuyasu lived a normal life with his father, mother, and older brother, Keicho. His mother died when he was still young, and the resulting despair and misfortune drove his father to become aggressive and even physically abusive with the young boy. Keicho, as the older brother, was protective of little Okuyasu. In canon for Reasons their father turned into a little green dude but in the absence of vampires and flesh bloods I'm just going to say that in this AU, eventually their father was consumed by anger and cruelty; the resulting Nightmare that claimed him stole his memories, and neither boy could recognize the man that awoke as their father, but as an unwell man unaware of the pain he put them through.
Despite the pain, they couldn't just leave him.
The years went on. Keicho became a Dreamer. He threw himself face-first into one mission: find a way to reverse the damage done to their father, and restore his memories. It isn't a happy mission: that their father does not remember the pain he put his family through sickens Keicho. He would not forgive, and he would not forget. Okuyasu traveled with him, helping in whatever small ways he could. Which wasn't much, considering he was just a normal guy. But he could at least cook a dinner and tend to their home. School? What's school? For at least a few years, Okuyasu has been ignoring all responsibilities and living under the radar, the family going so far as to live in abandoned houses here and there. Keicho, growing increasingly frustrated and the lack of results, turned on Okuyasu. Okuyasu is a hindrance, a burden, stupid, and incapable of thinking for himself — and Okuyasu heard enough of this to believe it to be true.
But he still had love in his heart for his family, and he powered through, helping where he could, and staying out of the way where he couldn't.
And eventually Keicho disappeared. There might be some kind of "also he did something to save Okuyasu's life" thing in here to mirror canon. The details are rough. Listen, it's fine.
So, rolling back: Okuyasu is relatively new to town! He's been here a few weeks, maybe a month, so maybe your character has spotted him around. He lives with his amnesiac father, who is Very Unwell, and takes care of him. He wants to save his father — to restore his memories and become a happy family again. And he wants to find his brother, wherever he might have gone. But he is just a normal boy, and there is so little he can do on his own. So, for as long as he has no power of his own, he will reach out and seek out others who can help him — and maybe make some friends along the way.
He's had so, so very few of those.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: I want Okuyasu to become a Dreamer relatively quickly, maybe a month or two into playing. Rotating names in my head, "Dreamer Billion" is near the forefront. What does it mean? Who knows, but it's on the outfit he wears in canon. Like in canon, his eventual powers will revolve around erasing space. I'm not sure what his archetype would be, but I'm leaning Sentry because the guy is pretty beefy and his powers would help out.
Some examples of things he might be able to do once he gets a grip on his powers: erase things that are dangerous. Effectively a shield. Someone's shooting you? He can erase the bullet! He can also use his powers for positioning. Pull an retreating enemy closer by erasing the space between you and them — or help you retreat by giving you a short-range blink away. In terms of combat, his powers don't actually mesh with it much! His weapon will probably be something along the lines of a gauntlet, and his fighting technique will be "big punch".
At the start he's at a low point. I want to see him happy! Make friends, find people who care about him, and, in turn, learn to care about himself. He's always lived for his brother and his father. What happens when he learns to live for himself? We see one version of this in his canon. I want to see another!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: In terms of canon castmates, a Josuke is the ideal. If you know, you know. But, as things are, he's going in alone, and I'm totally fine with that! As for CR... everything is amazing, but there are a few ideas I'm thinking about.
A bestie, if you will. This is Josuke in canon; in his absence, Okuyasu needs a bro (gender neutral)! It is so easy to get him to like you; genuinely, all you have to do is be nice to him and you'll blow his mind. Bonus points if you're nice to him even though he wasn't very nice to you at first. Like I said, he can be aggressive and punchy. He needs someone he can go out and get ice cream with, chat nonsense, cause trouble in fun ways with, that sort of thing.
A crush. This doesn't have to actually be a ship, especially considering Okuyasu's type in canon tends towards "older women". Okuyasu very much wants a girlfriend and gets super flustered/blushy around girls he likes, which is all very cute to me. There's a (non-canon) drama CD where he writes a confession letter then panics and eats the paper. He starts crying — actually, legitimately bawling — when one of his friends gets a girlfriend. His emotions are HUGE, and he would be so embarrassing. As for RP, boys are not exempt from this. I am playing him as bi, but not yet aware boys are an option.
Something along the lines of a mentor. Someone who knows the ropes and can be patient with a guy who believes he's stupid beyond help learning to be a Dreamer and running on pure instinct. Help him.
I'm not entirely sure what I can offer re: CR potential with Amane/Hanako because he's a little troll who would probably rub him the wrong way (though this child also... desperately needs friends.....), though he is an Experienced Dreamer who already has two Mentees under his belt so I'm happy to offer that if you don't mind Okuyasu having a teacher who is half his size sobs
but I am just excited to see Best Jojo boy from the Best Jojo part and hope everyone here spoils him because he deserves it ;-;
isnt he SOOOO GOOOD!!!!!!!!!! I am very afraid of not doing him justice but I am trying my best. big agree on best boy & bets part btw. he's perfect
I'm not familiar with your character, but I'm skimming your app and I think there's a world where they get along! Listen: trolls are funny and fine as long as they don't take it TOO far. im thinking about mikitaka and okuyasu in absolute hysterics up until he wasn't
I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH.... his and Josuke's friendship makes my heart so soft and Okuyasu being such a genuine, earnest dude despite all the pain he'd been through in his life is just... WEGH TAT But also that is a Big Mood for me and my lil guy here too, so I def get that, sobs ;; I think your Okuyasu seems great so far, though!!
Though YEAH, Hanako at least knows how to recognize when he's stepped over a line and can apologize accordingly, and most of his trolling is like-- harmless mischief, so we could make something work! His parents own a cafe/flower shop in the city too, which he helps out at (and he's a lot more toned down in the real world), so now I'm just imagining Okuyasu there pulling a Tonio's part 2 or something (though their food probably isn't nearly as fancy as his, sobs)
YOU KNOW I LOVE THIS BOY!!! I'm down for any CR between him and Frieren, mentor and student, weird friends, whatever works. I feel like he'd be a fantastic addition to the game and I would love to see him grow and make friends!

She doesn't know how to use a smartphone except for, like, texting. Please help her.

Introduction: hi im fuzz and i am shy
Character Name: Okuyasu Nijimura
Canon: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Short Term & Long Term Plans:
I want Okuyasu to become a Dreamer relatively quickly, maybe a month or two into playing.
Anything Else?:

I'm not entirely sure what I can offer re: CR potential with Amane/Hanako because he's a little troll who would probably rub him the wrong way (though this child also... desperately needs friends.....), though he is an Experienced Dreamer who already has two Mentees under his belt so I'm happy to offer that if you don't mind Okuyasu having a teacher who is half his size sobs
but I am just excited to see Best Jojo boy from the Best Jojo part and hope everyone here spoils him because he deserves it ;-;

I'm not familiar with your character, but I'm skimming your app and I think there's a world where they get along! Listen: trolls are funny and fine as long as they don't take it TOO far. im thinking about mikitaka and okuyasu in absolute hysterics up until he wasn't
thank you so much... im weeping...
