Player Name & Pronouns: Samantha (or just Sam is fine) she/her/hers Contact: mst Introduction: your other mod! i’m in charge of newsletters and helping claire out.
your local princess diana stan, i work in tech from home so i’m around a lot— if you need anything plz let me know! i’m a dog mom of two naughty labradors, love musicals, stickers, and the color purple.
Character Name: Zinda Blake
About: Zinda started her career as a dreamer back in the 90s, in America, where she led a team of handsome boy mahous called the Blackhawks. As their only female member, and an active participant of the riot grrrl movement, Zinda said GIRLS TO THE FRONT and led her team as Lady Blackhawk with an infectious laugh and a can do attitude. It’s that attitude that led her into trouble—- and straight into a coma in the real world, in 1996, the result of a tragic incident that wiped the Blackhawks out completely.
While she was comatose in the real world, Zinda kept Dreaming on occasion— showing up when things were messy over the years, and vanishing randomly without any warning. It’s over these years of Dreaming that she slowly aged— the Zinda that awoke two years ago wasn’t still a teen, as she’d had life experiences and been able to mature through Dreaming. This was likely also the reason why she was able to recover in just two years—- her body hadn’t been completely frozen in that bed for over twenty years. In addition, she didn’t age physically as fast as everyone else did, and appears younger than she should, due to her lost time.
As you can expect, the changes between the 90s and modern day were extremely jarring, and Zinda grapples with them daily. Despite this, she’s still upbeat and comes at everything with an optimistic and joyful outlook. She’s quick to try and mentor other, younger dreamers, and has a fierce mama bear instinct, though she’s vastly more sloppy wine aunt than cuddly team mom.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: I’m just here to have some FUN. Zinda’s social and funny and I plan on playing up the gag that she’s from the 90s as much as I can. You can expect her texting w one finger at a time and yelling at her phone and calling things tubular.
Desired CR: If your character has been Dreaming longer than two years, feel free to reach out about Zinda potentially bumping into them as a Dreamer. She would have been obscenely cheerful and helpful, apppeared out of nowhere, and vanished suddenly. If she helped get your character out of danger, she would have vanished after helping them with that, without saying goodbye. think of the mysterious ghostlike characters in .hack.
i’m here for all the oldies cr. she’s loud and loves dancing and going to the bar for a beer. She probably forgets it’s not the 90s anymore and wears too much flannel and talks about ska. the first thing she wanted to know when she woke up was if y2k was ok.
she’ll be pushing advice on just about anyone she can, regardless of if they want it. She’s overly affectionate and sunshiney, even when people are grumpy or downcast—- the only thing she doesn’t tolerate well is those who deliberately hurt others.
Anything Else?: i’m on mobile so i left it on my computer upstairs but i have a portlandia screenshot that says remember the 90s and it made me laugh and i’ll reply w it later
Cheerful and helpful... that has me imagining Zeke having a (one-sided?) friendly rivalry with her. Cheerful and helpful is the Bringer of Chaos's thing! Stop showing up to help him! You're showing up to get HIS help! Right?!
Ben is an "oldie" (he's 38 and has been a dreamer since the late 90s). I don't know how well known the Blackhawks were but I'd be down for him having run into her at some point over the last 25 years of dreaming.
I've got a fellow 90s/00s punk kid with a deep love for flannel! Ango is new to the Dreamer thing (and is totally halfassing it) but I can definitely see him having a Blackhawks poster on his bedroom wall as a teenager.
Oh my god I think Sam might idolize her a little, since Sam's been a Dreamer for...maybe four years now? And Zinda could've helped pull Sam's fat out of the fire before.
Besides, the 90's were cool, that was when grunge started, you know?!
