Welcome to Beautiful Dreamer's test drive meme! If you're unfamiliar with the game, then you can check out the navigation to get yourself up to speed on all the relevant info pages then check out the most recent AU Planning meme to see what juicy ideas your fellow players are cooking up!

As the prompts in the TDM are based on events from the prior in-game month, the overall TDM is not canon to Beautiful Dreamer though players are free to treat individual CR/threads on this post as canon to their characters if both players are happy to do so.

Dreamers on the TDM will have access to all of their starter powers as outlined on the powers page as well as two unique abilities to play around with as you please.

Some prompts and location details have been provided below for you to play around with but please feel free to go hog wild and have fun!

YUMEMIGAOKA

March is the first month of spring in Yumemigaoka which means the weather is finally taking a turn from completely grim and gray to only mostly grim and only kind of gray! Coming off the back of February, the first week of March has a lot of heavy rain that gradually gives way to some light, sunny showers that make things feel just a bit more lively. This is helped along by the early appearance of a few cherry blossom trees that have already begun to bloom after which cherry blossom season will start in earnest from mid March to around the beginning of April. Temperatures will gradually pick up as the month goes on until things eventually stop feeling quite so wintery and by the time March comes to an end, spring has undeniably sprung!


⧖ With spring sweeping in and painting the town pink, it's officially cherry blossom season in Yumemigaoka! A number of stores around the city have seasonal goods and snacks that are only around once a year and Hina Flower Gardens are holding a free event with their own exclusive seasonal goodies and some absolutely beautiful scenery to take in. There's a few dry days across the month, so why not pack a picnic and go chill under the cherry blossoms?

⧖ March 13th is White Day - the day recipients of Valentines Day chocolate and gifts are expected to repay that kindness! Various stores will have sales to capitalize on the supposedly lovey dovey atmosphere, with Tomoe-24 in particular slashing their prices on chocolates, baked goods and novelty merch. Just make sure you actually remember to give the right gifts to the right people... is this what people mean when they talk about the burden of popularity?!

⧖ Matsuba World Market are hosting a market-wide stamp rally all around the neighborhood, handing out stamps to customers to encourage them to visit as many shops as possible for the chance to win a grand prize - a whopping ¥10,000 gift voucher that you can spend around Matsuba Market! Of course, you have to spend money in the first place to get your stamps so it's possible this is a bit of a false economy at play...

⧖ It's graduation season! All up and down Yumemigaoka, schools are bidding farewell to students who are either moving onto the next stage of their education or off into adult life for the very first time! Ceremonies and celebrations are being held up and down Yumemigaoka which means the city's going to be all sorts of busy while these are going on.







THE DREAM SPHERE







Over in the Dream Sphere, spring has sprung right into the stratosphere, with iridescent flowers and colorful trees growing on just about every surface you can see and the sky above turning a particularly pretty shade of pale pink to match. The usual downpour in the Vale of Sorrow has eased off into a spring shower and Stardust Sanctuary is positively glistening.

As usual, the emotions stirring over in the Waking World have begun funneling into the Dream Sphere and causing all manner of problems here and there. Torments and Nightmares won't hunt themselves so be sure to properly scout out all the available locations of the Dream Sphere you can access just in case - maybe you'll find a new teammate to work with while you're out there!

In particular, it looks like trouble can be found...


⧖ No matter where you go in the Dream Sphere, it almost looks like it's... snowing?! Isn't it a little warm for that? ... on closer inspection, this snow is actually cherry blossom petals raining endlessly down from the sky. How pretty! Of course, for those of you with allergies, maybe it's just rubbing salt on the wound. Your nose isn't itching, is it? Achoo!

⧖ In keeping with the spring atmosphere, this season's Torments are unusually... cute. Little cartoony rabbit looking guys, almost fit to be a magical girl's mascot, that are smaller and fluffier than your typical Torment. Almost approachable, even. Of course, they are still Torments no matter how cute they look, so if you let your guard down you'll discover that these little critters are bloodthirsty and vicious to a fault! But you should still get a quick pet in while you're being mauled. They're nice and fluffy.

⧖ There's an uptick of Torment activity around Fury Peak, which has not started looking any nicer despite the spring atmosphere! For the most part, it's the usual rocky and firey critters but rumors abound of some rat-looking Torments that are stalking the place and catching Dreamers out when they least expect it. Of course, even in a dream, it's unlikely that rodents of such unusual size would exiAUGH

⧖ Facet Lagoon is usually a nice place to spend a sunny day but unfortunately for you, it's all business here! A huge sea monster Nightmare has been spotted in the waters in and around the lagoon and its size means teamwork will be necessary to take it down. Are you a bad enough guy to handle a giant sea monster?!

🌙 purely d[a]zzling, i want to steal your heart

[ While Kana doesn't consider herself popular by any means, especially now that she's a "washed up child actress", staff still did put her on duty during Valentine's Day to get the scraps of fans who were still loyal, as far and few between as they were.

Which is why staff has also made her put up a booth for White Day - basically, a small "meet and greet" in a lame attempt to boost her popularity. After all, people love meeting their oshi. But her staff doesn't market her as the actress that she is. No, they market her as the actress that she... was.

All the images at her booth don't show the current Kana Arima, but rather the young child actress and Dreamer, like she's at one of those conventions and they're trying to paste her most well known roles.

There isn't much of a line, but Kana is wearing her best dazzling smile at the booth, practiced and primed and trying so damn hard not to be annoyed that her own booth has one of her most embarrassing videos on display: the Green Peppers Gymanstics theme.

Someone save her...! ]

[ Just because she's not as popular as she was during her prime doesn't mean that she can easily go outside - her red hair stands out quite a bit, after all. It's why she always wears a hat to make her seem less visible.

She winds up visiting Matsuba World Market on days when she thinks she won't be bombarded by people; after all, she lives by herself so she has to get her groceries sometime. And hearing about the stamp rally means that she has to enter! Just because she's a former famous actress does not mean that she has crazy riches. Not in the slightest bit.

Of course she's completely focused on getting food and making sure to get them at the best possible price for her budget, which might lead into the typical scene of Kana potentially crossing hands with you, fellow buyer: ]

Hey, don't you know that I got to this first...? You should let go.

[ She is absolutely insistent, here, even behind her hat and shades that obfuscate her face. ]

[ In the Dream Sphere, she is Dreamer Sol, bright and dazzling just like her eyes: piercing; like you can see the entire galaxy inside of them.

While the Torments inside might be unusually 'cute', that doesn't mean that it's time to get distracted. However, if she sees someone else try and get close to attempt and pet them, she'll yell out, frustrated: ]

Just what do you think you're even doing?! They're not some cuddly little pet that you can just play around with...!

[ Over the years, Ai's gotten good at fading into the crowd when she wants to - tying up her hair, plopping on a cap, some shades and a heavy coat and it's like casting a magic spell that makes people look right past her. Or at least, politely pretend not to see her. It helps to stay moving as well and like she usually does, Ai's moving at a steady clip today. Once that song drifts through the air, though, her pace slows a bit. It stirs something in her head, nothing as concrete as a memory, but a recognition that tugs at her enough that she glances over at the stall. It's only when she sees the face plastered all over it that she actually stops.

Her lips make the shape of a name but it's not until she drags her gaze from the videos playing out over the monitors to the girl there in person that her voice actually rises out of her. ]

Arima... Kana-chan? [ She sounds almost uncertain. ] Is that really you?

[ Oh no.

She can feel the dread settling in the pit of her stomach and it's only when she manages to see who it is that the smile in her lips finds itself twitching uncomfortably, even as she tries to keep up a cordial politeness in her voice. Even if it's somewhat now a bit strained. ]

... Yes, that's right. And how may I help you?

[The voice sounds kinda familiar, but Lisa's learned to both trust that instinct and also to just kinda let it pass, both from Ai. What she won't let pass is that someone else wants this very important vegetable!!!]

I'm gonna have to buy three more to be as good as this one!

[........this is probably hyperbole. But after the last time she met disaster picking vegetables and her zucchini squished in her hand, she wants payback!]

[ Kana is being an absolute brat over a single vegetable and could just get another one, but this is the best one she's seen all day! ]

[Ruby had been insistent on venturing out into the Dreamsphere with Kana no matter how much the other tried to brush her off. ("Come on, senpai, we're Dreamer Sol and Dreamer Soleil--two suns shine brighter than one! It's like destiny!") She got lucky on this one, though when the torments turned out to be cute little bunnies, Ruby got a bit unconventional in her methods.]

But they look so soft, senpai, who'd have nightmares about these? Maybe they'll go away if we pet them hard enough!

[ People in Yumemigaoka may notice that there's been a moving truck with all of its boxes sitting on the sidewalk early in the month. And in fact, there's a young green haired girl with a bright yellow ribbon also sitting on top of those boxes, looking rather bored out of her mind. ]

Ohh c'mon Kasai... you should at least be faster.

[ She sighs, a bit dismayed. But if she sees someone just casually passing by: ]

Hararon☆ Are you a local here? Hi, I'm new in town, it's nice to meet you! Sorry about the mess. Kasai's a bit slow when it comes to bringing everything in. I hope we can get along, though. If you're not too busy, wanna talk for a bit?

[ Shion will even give her best pleading face. Come on, don't leave her alone with these boxes... ]

Uwaaah...! What cute cherry blossoms!

[ People might think that it's strange that Shion, a teenager, is not attending school on a weekday, but look - she plans to transfer in next month in time for the new school season.

But people can totally mistake her for a delinquent that's ditching classes, it's not as if she's going to deny it if people attempt to call her out on it.

She is taking a seat for proper cherry blossom viewing, however: picnic basket and sheet for her spot. But it's pretty lonely participating in a hanami by herself... ]

[Junna had been walking back from a quick shopping trip -- not a fun one, a boring one to pick up some supplies for school --- when she spotted the moving boxes. And the green-haired girl atop them. She pauses, but smiles when Shion greets her.

She waves her hand, once, in a cheerful way.]

Oh, hello. Welcome to Yumemigaoka. I'm... yes, I suppose so. I moved here a few months ago.

[She steps closer, extending a hand towards her.] Junna Hoshimi.

[Amane can't help but stop in his tracks when Shion calls out to him, blinking for a moment in surprise. Maybe not so much by the fact that there was another teenager here in the park at the moment-- she looked to be about Lisa and Shinsha's age, and they were already out of classes for the year-- but more for the offer in general. Perhaps he should be more wary about strangers asking a middle school boy to sit with them, but--]

Uh... sure?

[It's not like he planned on doing any hanami today (that was probably going to be on the weekend with his family), but his doctor's appointment let out a little earlier than usual and it was nice to take a shortcut through the park while it was still a little quiet. And she was right-- it was a pretty good spot to see the flowers...

As he picks his way over, carefully holding his bag of konbini snacks away from him, he spots the picnic basket nearby. If she was already this prepared--]

The other people in your group aren't going to mind, though, are they...?

[Because clearly there were other newly graduated kids who were probably going to join her, right? Why else would she be out here on her own?]

She has a green coat and blue jeans on, both of which are just loose fitting enough for her to be able to move around quickly in. Because, even outside of the Dream Sphere, she is a ninja. In her heart, at least, and three online friends assure her that's what counts. She has her stamp page clutched in hand. She looks at the markets like she's sizing up her prey...

Which she is.]

Okay... where to start! C'mon, Yuffie, time to wow them by getting all of the stamps the fastest.

[She's actually thinking about this. How to speedrun the market. How does one do it fastest ever?]

Dream Sphere: Rabbit Food

[Dreamer White Rose is walking through the Dream Sphere and stopped, right before one of the Torments out and about: a cute, fluffy rabbit-looking one. It has a blue robe, with a wide straw hat, and big fluffy ears. Yuffie smiles with delight, leaning forward...]

Aw, aren't you a cute little thing? You look totally harmle--

[ANYTHING BUT.

The rabbit lunges up at her, slamming into her, and knocks her onto her back. Then, he starts wailing on her, punching repeatedly.]

WHY MEEEEEEEEEEE!

Dream Sphere!

[For a moment, Dreamer Chaosbringer is extremely confused. He's pretty sure he didn't just yell "WHY MEEEEEEE!", and yet that familiar refrain of his still echoes over the Dream Sphere.]

[Is it possible... someone else said that? Could someone else be having bad luck for no reason at all? Should he be happy it isn't him for once, or furious that someone else is horning in on his schtick?]

( Here is a young man seated on a blanket laid over the grass in the shade of a sakura tree. An incredibly pink and flowery blanket. Hell, it's even got little white puffballs dotted along the edges like a fringe.

Listen, he had a mix up getting out of the car with his little sister and now that he's pulled the wrong blanket out, he has to stick with this one. Just ... waiting for a friend. It might be a little macho meathead of him to be embarrassed over a piece of fabric, but it's more so that his friend hasn't shown up yet ... Either way, he looks tense. )

( What to choose.

Manato has two boxes in his hands and a few more in the shopping basket looped and resting at his elbow. When spotting someone near by, he has to ask. He doesn't like being indecisive, sorry. )

Hey, ah — um. If you had to pick, would you ... rather get handmade chocolates or something pre-made? I have to get my friend back and I don't know the best way to do it ...

Worth it!

( Manato Dreamer Derecho has scratches across his cheek and down his chest, but he looks ... happy? He's typically happier here at least part of the time; feeling stronger here, in this dreamscape, is a blessing. It's more than welcome. Anxiety tends to grip him and keep him moving when he should rest, or it makes him lock up when he needs to move.

But here?

There's Torments to take care of. Lives to save.

... And, apparently, some of those Torments are pretty cute and fluffy and worth getting scratched up for. )

Hey, man! Sorry for the wait.

[ Ryu calls out from a few yards off. His friend here seems to be deep in thought and made anxious all at once. Yet there's no need to worry about being alone anymore. Because that's the only reason he could possibly look worked up on such a beautiful day.

Ryu sprawls out on the cute, pink blanket immediately. Laid on his side, stretching a hand out towards the basket closer to Manato. ]

Aaah, feels good to lie down... Great to see you, though. Feels like it's been too long, you know?

Hmm... From a friend? [he stops to think about it for a moment before replying, cheerfully;] I don't think I would mind. If it's something a friend got for me, it'd make me happy no matter what it was.

Tomoe-24 - Hey, it's (practically) free chocolate

[there's an unfamiliar face hanging around different Tomoe-24's around Yumemigaoka! He usually waves from where he's leaning against the doorway, one of the on-sale chocolate treats in his mouth. He has a couple more, skillfully juggling them with one hand as he people watches. If you stare too long, he catches both chocolate bars in one hand and holds them out to you]

What? Want some chocolate?

[yes, he is asking this with a chocolate bar still in his mouth...]

Fury Peak No, my stage now - A Symbol of Thrill

[Cherry blossoms? Adorable rabbits? No, friends, we are here for adventure. Dreamer Sonic is dashing through Fury Peak like he's trying to break some arbitrary speed run record in a lava stage. It's... It's sort of ridiculous to watch him, his bright blue colouration making him stand out amidst the red, black and grey of the environment. It looks like he's taking some of the Torments here for a run, leaving them in his dust as he dashes and jumps effortlessly across crumbling pathways and solidified lava floes, barely staying there long enough for them to shake before disappearing back into the lava.

He hits a particularly stable ledge and abruptly stops to look out into the horizon, holding a hand over his eyes to shield them from the non-existent sun. Sonic has drawn out a few of the oversized Torments and is... Ignoring them?!]

Man... The view here's kinda awful, huh? Nah, I get it. [he grins over his shoulder at the approaching Torments] Can't blame you for being too grouchy about that.

Hey! [he turns properly and waves at a Dreamer on the far side of the group of Torments he'd gathered up] Ready to take them on??

[you are, in fact, being volun-told to join the fight. At least is looks like Sonic's ready to take them on with you... Good luck?!]

[Okay, it is definitely hot here. And it's a bit frustrating. Would Torments really hang out in a place like this?

...And as quickly as he has that thought, he gets an answer as Sonic speeds past him to stop and look at the horizon, with Torments not far behind. Revision can only blink in surprise at first, until Sonic asks if he's ready to fight. And now he's left with a predicament.]

Uh, sure? I'll do my best.

[Hopefully Sonic is more experienced than Revision is. Either way, Revision will certainly take fighting with a companion over fighting by himself to get better at this.]

[That would be the voice of YUFFIE KISARAGI, local ninja teenaged troublemaker. She was appreciating the juggling, because she likes seeing displays of skill. Also, she was debating if it's something that she could do herself.

She's pretty sure she can.]

Fury Peak, because i am always down for dangerous platforming

[There was someone else at Fury Peak, someone who fit right in with the pink of the cherry blossoms and the rabbit-like torments. A particularly petite girl who was both dressed in colors that matched the falling petals, and wore a hat that looked an awful lot like bunny ears. She'd been left alone by the doom bunnies, who perhaps saw her as some sort of kin, and had been observing them. But then SOMEONE had to ruin the serenity.

Someone she had to admit moved even faster then SHE did. That was an impressive feat, and something she'd normally praise. But she had been bunnywatching, and now the bunnies aren't sitting still being cute anymore. She knew they were torments, and that she shouldn't like them. But they were bunnies. BUNNIES!]

What? F..fine, I'll help. But only so I can go back to watching bunnies!

[She sounds so indignant about it, too. Cute things are VERY important, it seems!]

[time flies fast, doesn't it? she could've sworn she had just entered middle school.

and yet, earlier this week, Bea had graduated.

now that she has a lot of free time in her hands, she's hanging around Hina Flower Gardens. spring has always been her favourite season; watching the blossoming trees is essentially a must-do.

she's currently scribbling underneath a tree, humming a little ditty while doing so. the young girl looks to be deep in thought, but maybe not.]

[Dreamer Calliope calls out in Twinkle Keep's hallways. they've heard about the castle's size many times before, but... now that they've actually explored it, it really does feel like a maze.

.. maybe they should've brought some company. doesn't even have to be a big team; just another person could do.

not because they're lost or anything like that! but ... in case they get into some hot water with the Torments of the keep, it would be nice to have a helping hand.

Exploring is supposed to be relaxing. Fun. Memento's way to escape.

Not... lost, confusing, and frustrating. Memento definitely has regrets right about now. But at least he hasn't run into anything yet. He'd be really upset if he had to fight on top of all this.

It isn't until a few turns later that he does run into something - Calliope. Oh, great. Another person.

...Though, he does suppose he is a bit lost. Maybe she can help?

He furrows his brows, looking innocent, even a little distraught.]

I... I think I'm lost... can you help me?

[There's a thirteen-year-old, adorably pink boy, looking absolutely helpless before you, Calliope. How can you turn down a face like his?]

Sousuke snaps a few more pictures, pointed up at the trees. He adjusts the lense to zoom in closer on some petals. He points further up until he's looking up to where the sky would be through the branches, until he almost falls over from his backwards bend. Almost. He reasonably manages to catch himself, looking down at his camera as he sets the film.

As he puts the camera back up to his eye, he turns directions, scanning for new scenery. And it would be a perfect shot, except you're there. Very much to his frustration. Excuse you, can't you see he's taking pictures?

If you're out of his age range, he's absolutely going to call you out.

"Hey, you with the terrible appearance. You're not cool enough to be in this photo."

If you look like you might be around his age, he'll lower his camera for a moment, looking you over. It's a surprisingly gentle gaze, almost sincere.

"Hey... do you remember me?"


..::\\|| 2. White Day ||//::..

Look, it's not like anyone gave him chocolate (much to his dissapointment. He'd hoped at least one person would), but he still has a bag overflowing with it, and is even holding some in his arms. All while he's leaning against to the doorway outside of a store.

He holds up one of the heart-shaped boxes to examnine, flipping it over, giving a sigh. Occassionally watching someone pass by him. If anyone dares to look at him and his stash of candy for more than a passing glance, he'll actually talk to you.

"Hey, I'll give you one of these if you can tell me my name," There's a slight bit of mischief mixed with a pleading look in his eyes.

However, he's fully prepared to insult you if you're wrong, or are too chicken to guess at all. It's your fault for looking at him, y'know.


..::\\|| 3. Spring Dreams ||//::..

Look. Look. Dreamer Memento doesn't like fighting, mostly for the fact that he's a total coward and doesn't like the idea of getting hurt, dream or not. He'd rather avoid it at all costs (He's really a coward.)

So he's staying far and away from looking for Torments, thank you very much. He usually only comes here to look, reflect, take some mental snapshots, and kind of maybe look for things that might trigger his memory to come back. His success has been pretty much nonexistent, but he still finds himself here despite the odds.

[Amane hadn't really planned to be in this spot for long-- with his energy still lagging, he needed a spot to sit and recharge between his trip to the library and the train station. But with the trees like this, he couldn't help but linger and appreciate their beauty for just a little longer. After all, it wasn't often he actually got to see the source; his parents usually sold cut branches for decorative purposes, but seeing them here, as they should be, was a nice sort of treat of it's own.
