Welcome to Beautiful Dreamer's very first AU/CR Plotting Meme! This first version is going up in advance of the game itself to give potential applicants the opportunity to feel out how they want to play their AUs as well as shopping around for pre-game CR and potentially some CR castmates...??? Perish the thought!
During future app rounds, the AU and CR Plotting memes will be split in two in order for new players to have a bit of breathing room in workshopping their CR but in this pre-game stretch while we're all chewing on the bars of our collective cage you get a two for one deal!
Don't feel as though you have to be 100% beholden to anything you brainstorm here – ultimately this is just to get ideas flowing and to help prebake some character connections before entry into the game. Feel free to also take a look around the FAQ pages or tag about on the TDM before posting here and generate some ideas that way!
Once you're ready to get cookin', just fill out the form below and paste it into the comments.
Player Name: Matatabi (they/them) Contact:matatabibito Introduction: Heeeeey I'm Matatabi! I've been out of DWRP for years because I only play in AU games, but it's good to be back!
Character Name: Sakaguchi Ango. Canon: Bungou to Alchemist.
About: In canon, Ango is a cynical novelist who was one of the founding members of the "decadent" literary movement in post-WWII Japan. He and all of his dead novelist buddies are magically summoned into a dumb gacha game/anime where the spirits of classic literature's most dysfunctional writers are made to fight monsters (when they're not slacking off or arguing with each other). It's basically Fate/Grand Order, but you collect middle-aged amphetamine addicts with arts degrees. Anime was a mistake. Despite his tough guy looks and claims of being "Japan's greatest delinquent," Ango ends up becoming the Team Mom of the crew.
In BD, he's a moderately famous writer who awakens as a novice Dreamer after the death of a close friend. With his personal life in shambles and his rent past due, Ango arrives in Yumemigaoka looking for free food and a place to crash (and maybe even a sense of purpose). He's skeptical of the Dreamer Union, seeing it as an organization that exploits idealistic young people and uses them to deal with society's mental health issues. Ango's Dreamer aesthetic is ninja-inspired and he specializes in close-range physical attacks, so he's armed with a pair of daggers for times when just punching the collective unconscious in the face doesn't get the job done. His special ability is being able to make a surprisingly decent meal out of whatever he finds in the kitchen.
He's been living in Tokyo up until now, but other characters might have heard of him. His short stories have made it into the contemporary literature curriculum, which he finds deeply embarrassing. Anything you have to read in school is trash.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Short Term: Since Ango is a chronically unemployed failed adult, his first priority is finding someplace to live (or even just an unlocked supply closet at the Dreamer Union where he can camp until he finds someone to sponge off of). He's a novice Dreamer, so he's going to be figuring out his powers too. Ango is very easygoing, and at first he's not going to take this whole magical anime hero thing seriously at all. Dressing up in a costume and fighting dream monsters is only like the third weirdest thing he's done for money. Long Term: Ango doesn't make long term plans. Ango is a chaos gremlin who careens from one self-made crisis to the next.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: I'd love for him to hang out with some other jaded oyajis/aunties, or mentor some delinquent teens! He's a terrible influence on the youth.
Ninjas, daggers, and an easygoing attitude in inappropriate straits, you say? Sounds like Obi's kind of dude. I saw that Jeff offered for Misfire to offer a couch that doesn't even belong to him; would you like that couch to be Obi's couch? Wanna be sketchy ninja-esque friends?
she's probably going to judge him but it's not like she's much better... okay except for the "bug-spray your floor instead of cleaning it so the roaches go away" incident, that's more Sanae's thing.
