Short Term & Long Term Plans: Short term will be just getting her settled into her new life and making friends! Ryoko will be a transfer student at Promised Morning and a Novice Dreamer so most of her time in the first few months will be her coming to grips with the changes going on.

Long term, I want her to actually delve into dealing with the actual core of her emotional issues and start healing – while Ryoko's intended end point is more or less "retcon the current me so the Old, Superior Me can come back Where She Belongs", what I intend her overall arc to be about is Ryoko re-learning to imagine a future for herself and to understand that she, as the self she currently is, has value and deserves to be happy.

Desired CR/AU Castmates: Oh god. Everything!!! New classmates. New friends. Old classmates and friends!!! People who knew Ryoko before everything happened and now have to deal with her having no memory of them and somehow being even more scrunkly and standoffish than she was before. Mentors! People to look out for her! Honestly I would actually really love to have someone play Ryoko's current guardian - I purposely left that relationship a little vague in case it needs handwaving but I think it could be really juicy and interesting to play out in practice. - Morris Robotnik is the younger near identical twin of a guy called Maurice, with their only different feature being the colour of their eyes. The two were a pair of orphans adopted by an eccentric inventor named Ivo Robotnik, whose biggest claim to fame is the oviphone, which is like...probably 4 or 5 spots down from your androids/iphones in terms of quality but hey it's not as expensive.
- While Morris and Maurice are nearly identical in appearance, they couldn't be more different in terms of demeanour. Maurice is..look he's sonic the hedgehog, he's a fun loving free spirit thrillseeker who might rub you the wrong way but you'll probably begrundingly like him. Morris, however, is quiet - mute in fact - introverted, serious, short tempered, kinda rude and difficult. However, he's similar to his brother in that he's fiercely determined, never gives up and competitive - he may even be the more competitive of the two, but you wouldn't know that from first glance.
- Because Maurice is a no good delinquent who thinks school is for nerds, a lot of their dad's attention is spent on trying to keep his more free spirited son in line. As a result, Morris is somewhat of a latch key kid - he actually does all the cooking and cleaning and his family have just kinda grown used to that. Spends a lot of time at home. Kind of neglected but not on purpose, that's a big contributing factor to why he is the way he is.
- Morris attends school and mostly doesn't draw attention to himself. He's very studious but he probably won't help you with your work cause he's Like That. He doesn't attend any club activities, but perhaps Entirely Coincidentally he's really athletic when it comes to things his brother is good at! Almost like he picks up things his brother does to try and outdo him! Weird.
- At one point another student who had beef with his brother tried picking on Morris because they figured him being introverted meant he wouldn't stand up for himself, but he proceeded to kick the shit out of them. Parents were probably called. Favours were called. Parents and officials were probably paid off. It was a mess. He doesn't regret it.
- I like to think the twins' awakening happened simultaneously and he would have signed up for the DU as his brother did just because he's stupid and competitive. edit he tried this for a little while and then dinah recruited him to be a dark mahou so that's him now, he tried he's out
- He really likes cycling. He is counting down the days when he's old enough to own a motorcycle.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: I actually want him to be a long term dreamer cause he's gonna be the most unhelpful piece of shit senpai but he will actually lend you a hand. He's not a robot anymore.

Otherwise I'm winging it.

Desired CR/AU Castmates:
- So like to be completely honest unless it's Sonic and Eggman specifically, I don't really want like "fill ins" for his AU family. As with canon it's tied very closely to those two and I don't think I'd like substitutions.
- While there are protags out there who I know will inevitably befriend him I'd like for some people who think he's weird/offputting/rude? Because he is, yknow.
- But yeah come and be his friend it's fine, he's cold and distant but he isn't as evil as his robot self so he won't try to kill you.

Their parents died a few years ago so he's now the family head, even though he's a minor- his guardian is basically just a figurehead, he pretty much runs things.

- Speaking of the Hotsuins, they are also very very involved in the DU, and nasty rumors suggest their fortune came from skeevy use of the Dream Sphere back before the DU was supervising things. This may or may not be true.

- Even so, Yamato takes his position as a Dreamer Very Serious and sees them as the guardians of Japan and that all Dreamers should strive for excellence in all things. He Will judge you if you slack.

- Will be a vet and a mentor. Yes, even though he's only 17

Short Term & Long Term Plans: With a bunch of people becoming Dreamers at once he's going to transfer to Promised Morning to 'observe' the newbies. He's never been in public schooling ever in his life or dealt with people his own age. I want him to gain some appreciation for being a kid and the 'small folk'

- In his free time, however, he contributes to society via gambling, scavenging garbage, and editing wikipedia pages in silly and crude ways.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: Short term plans wise, he's just here to have fun. Long term, I wanna get into why he's just here to have fun. Meaning: he's got terrible self esteem and his sense of identity is just a commitment to the bit, and I want him to grow out of that and into a more comfortable and sincere sense of self that ISN'T just Being A Funny Guy.

Novvy Rex is that guy. A renowned star ballerina... 10+ years out of practice. current hostage of the grind. life irreparably altered when a twist of fate un-buried his dreams of the stage just enough that he made attractive prey to a Nightmare-- and thus sparked into Awakening.

So, hes super new to this, and i wanna play out his awakening as a recent event w dreamers who might be interested! If anything having 8 more hours of the day he can draw paycheck out of is gonna be even more earthshattering than the 'in my dreams, I'm fearless and at the top of my game again' thing. Thenk you Dreamer Union for his life.

Novvy has worked a LONG string of various inglorious entry-level positions until landing the dance instructor job that rattled him Awake. Four years since he came _out to this city and he's went from unworldly display-shelf housewife to jack-of-all-trades.... he'd say he's hashtag #thriving but his high resting heartrate and nicotine dependency do not agree.

As a Dreamer, Novvy tries to keep his two lives in separate boxes, banking on his dramatic differences in the waking vs dreaming worlds letting him stay under the radar and playing very coy with information about his waking self around his fellow Dreamers. This drops the moment he's interacting with the Union, though. No fooling around with the meal ticket.

As Dreamer Ballade, he comes off as very unserious... as Novvy Rex, he's like a pulled taut string.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: oh boy okay
Well for starters I want to live deliciously playing an extremely niche storyline/character concept.... I'm going to rot my own teeth out with sweet parent fluff just doing side content for myself

ANYWAY. I have LOTS of ideas, more than can be reasonably stuffed in here, but a big vibe is getting novvy to come to terms with the life he left behind when he left his husband, and also for him to like. Come to a place of equilibrium. I'm kind of setting his little toy car down just Before the real climbing out of the hole begins.

I plan on taking symbolic inspiration for his arc(s???) from various famous ballets, starting with Don Quixote _{which is the journal name origin!!}

Introduction: Heeeeey I'm Matatabi! I've been out of DWRP for years because I only play in AU games, but it's good to be back!

Character Name: Sakaguchi Ango.
Canon: Bungou to Alchemist.

About:
In canon, Ango is a cynical novelist who was one of the founding members of the "decadent" literary movement in post-WWII Japan. He and all of his dead novelist buddies are magically summoned into a dumb gacha game/anime where the spirits of classic literature's most dysfunctional writers are made to fight monsters (when they're not slacking off or arguing with each other). It's basically Fate/Grand Order, but you collect middle-aged amphetamine addicts with arts degrees. ~~Anime was a mistake.~~ Despite his tough guy looks and claims of being "Japan's greatest delinquent," Ango ends up becoming the Team Mom of the crew.

In BD, he's a moderately famous writer who awakens as a novice Dreamer after the death of a close friend. With his personal life in shambles and his rent past due, Ango arrives in Yumemigaoka looking for free food and a place to crash (and maybe even a sense of purpose). He's skeptical of the Dreamer Union, seeing it as an organization that exploits idealistic young people and uses them to deal with society's mental health issues. Ango's Dreamer aesthetic is ninja-inspired and he specializes in close-range physical attacks, so he's armed with a pair of daggers for times when just punching the collective unconscious in the face doesn't get the job done. His special ability is being able to make a surprisingly decent meal out of whatever he finds in the kitchen.

He's been living in Tokyo up until now, but other characters might have heard of him. His short stories have made it into the contemporary literature curriculum, which he finds deeply embarrassing. Anything you have to read in school is trash.

Short Term & Long Term Plans:
Short Term: Since Ango is a chronically unemployed failed adult, his first priority is finding someplace to live (or even just an unlocked supply closet at the Dreamer Union where he can camp until he finds someone to sponge off of). He's a novice Dreamer, so he's going to be figuring out his powers too. Ango is very easygoing, and at first he's not going to take this whole magical anime hero thing seriously at all. Dressing up in a costume and fighting dream monsters is only like the third weirdest thing he's done for money.
Long Term: Ango doesn't make long term plans. Ango is a chaos gremlin who careens from one self-made crisis to the next.

Desired CR/AU Castmates: I'd love for him to hang out with some other jaded oyajis/aunties, or mentor some delinquent teens! He's a terrible influence on the youth.

About: I'm not 100% settled on anything but I'd probably keep the majority of his backstory intact: a famous calligrapher with an eye for technology and the ability to seamlessly shift between being calm, polite and respectable, and the world's most unlikeable person. The Sakurayashikis have lived in Yumemigaoka for a very, very long time, always working in the arts, and Kaoru carries the weight of his family name and business. More than his canon self, he's given up a lot more to keep it alive, mostly his love of skateboarding and technology/AI and it's a total fucking bummer because it means he doesn't have a whole lot of outlets. It might be interesting if he rejected his role as a Dreamer entirely and had to be dragged back into it by Shenanigans.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: Nothing as of yet but I'm Looking Respectfully.

Desired CR/AU Castmates: In terms of dynamics, Kaoru works well with someone to bounce off of, especially if they can give as good as they get because his way of showing affection is usually to be a dick. He also- reluctantly- always ends up falling into parental or mentorlike roles; he's brutally honest with criticism but also patient and willing to put the effort into helping people he cares about. also, he's a know-it-all and it's a good way to show off oop

Basically, if you want a catty bestie, a surrogate mother or your favourite mean teacher, he's your guy. For specific relationships, employees or students at his studio, clients, family friends, acquaintances that he refuses to let become actual friends, the usual. Depends on whether you want Sakurayashiki-sensei, the refined master calligrapher, or Kaoru, the abrasive asshole who secretly can't sleep without a lullaby.

"why thank you, mari! is that why you've spent most of 2023 yelling joan of arc trivia on plurk?" "no comment")

About: Take Joan of Arc - bold, naive, a little sassy, highly religious, but quick to make decisions and selflessly do what she thinks is right. Make her a Pure Anime Girl who Loves Her Hometown and is Always Thinking Of Everyone. Give her an enormous blazing crush on a broody antiheroine who monologues about Revolution but has a soft spot for sweet idealists. There you go.

I'm presuming this world's history had something different happen in the Hundred Years' War so there isn't a historical Joan of Arc....Jeannette is from France and became a Dreamer after her life was saved by a Dreamer she calls ~her angel~. From there I'm torn between whether:

1) her "angel" is the same person it was in canon, but offscreen, or whether a PC should fill this role (see below)
2) she's a novice Dreamer or ready to be a mentor (on the one hand, her motivation is wanting to be her "angel's squire"; on the other, Jeanne d'Arc was a leady and inspiry person, and Jeannette is college-aged)
3) which of the archetypes to make her! I'm leaning towards Saver but she's like the only Jeannime d'Arc whose signature weapon is a sword instead of a flag so I'd like to keep that, and she ALSO historically had a habit of leading the charge even if she wasn't doing most of the hack and slashing......I might decide based on what we need the most to round out the cast.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: Jeannette has just moved here from rural France and I'm intending to do a bunch of ~~mirai zura~~ country bumpkin jokes with her as a result. I might have her sign up to be a Dreamer as her job, since she was a professional soldier historically and is the type of person who wants to Help as much as she can. Lots of her plans hinge on whether I get a volunteer for pre-existing "Angel" CR.

Desired CR/AU Castmates: DOES ANYONE WANT TO BE JEANNETTE'S "ANGEL"/LOVE INTEREST? Requirements:

- Would have had a reason to be in rural France 7 years pre-canon
- Be a cool adult mentor-type woman

Beyond that I'm open to developing things based on how they'd go between your character and someone who hero-worships her enough to want to spend her entire life paying your character back. (I personally would love it if Jeannette's feelings were reciprocated but "notice me, Senpai" is wonderful too.) Give me a pitch and maybe we can try some sample threads, see if they click, because you're basically signing up to have Jeannette be over the moon for your lady and I want it to be fun for both of us.

I also think it would be hysterical if we got more anime Joans of Arc and they were all related. Like the extended d'Arc family can't stop naming their girls Jeanne. Half the population of Domremy is girls named Jeanne d'Arc. Fates and Jalters I am LOOKING INTENSELY AT YOU.

About: High school third year. A quiet, aloof, kind of unapproachable senpai on the surface. The truth is, she's kind of a delinquent. Not the pompadour-punching kind, she just has very little respect for the rules of society. Knows where her dad's booze stash is, hangs out in off-limits places just because she saw a sign that said "off limits". Plays the guitar. Wants to start a rock band, but is gunshy about it for reasons to be explored later. Can sing, but never does in front of people.

TLDR: People who know Ayako through school and people who know Ayako outside of school will basically be meeting two completely different people.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: Ayako will be having a case of the genders, becoming a Dreamer, and possibly putting that rock band together. Beyond that, who knows.

Desired CR/AU Castmates: Let's have some concrete things! Because "anything" never catches my eye.

People who know Ayako at school, who can later learn what she's really like.
People who live within the boundaries of polite society, for Ayako to tempt into going outside of those boundaries.

About: An established member of the DU, Zeke is a dedicated member of the young-Dreamer assistance division. Despite appearing to be an absolute lunatic, Zeke is actually pretty emotionally mature and good at handling life. He holds down a pretty cushy job that helps him provide real-life support, but is even more useful as a source of advice and emotional assistance. Guy's not only good at this magical-girl thing, he's good at making it fun and keeping things from getting too heavy or angsty.

Also he has UNBELIEVABLY bad luck, starting with his Dreamer outfit being very sailor-scouty and going from there.

Short Term & Long Term Plans: Support for younger characters who need some guidance and help, whether in real life or the Dream Sphere! Also probably trying to get all you people going down the Dark Magical Girl path to get your acts together and stop doing... all of that.

- Even before moving, Wednesday was afflicted with prophetic dreams, something her mother also has, that foretold Nightmares. Naturally, one came after her.
- Naturally, it lost, but it did lead to Wednesday's Awakening.
- She hates being a Dreamer, but the Nightmares interest her enough that she wants to investigate the truth behind this matter anyway.

Short Term: Dragging Wednesday, kicking and screaming (metaphorically), into the outside world for socialization and enrichment. Despite her intense disinterest in anything other than her own business. Being a new transfer student means she's already an outcast which must be dealt with before anything else.

Long Term: ~~possibly investigating the murder of her distant relative~~ On the long term, investigating the Dream Sphere will be high on Wednesday's priorities. Just as well, I'd love to see her come into her own as a person, and be slightly more open with others. Maybe even allowing herself to be.... slightly caring.

Desired CR/AU Castmates: New classmates! Folk who'll look kindly on outcasts. Bullies. Other freaks to bond with. Part of the draw for Wednesday is that she's kind of an unknown enigma, so I want to play a bit with folk's expectations of her.

So this au does not start with Odile. It starts with their mother: Odette Cygnia.

(Note: all of the following has been extensively discussed with and approved by Claire)

Before the days of the Dreamer Union, Odette came to Yumemigaoka from [ UNCLEAR EUROPEAN COUNTRY ] to study abroad at the age of 12. The second born of a wealthy family, Odette's family life was far from a happy one: constantly berated and abused by everyone but her older sister, she was treated her entire life as "only a spare" and barely even considered worthy of being that much. As such, when Odette had her awakening as Dreamer Swan she dove fully into it, believing that this must be her true calling in life - finally something she could do.

And she seemed to be a perfect fit for it. Odette had the kind of personality you would expect from your usual mahou shoujo lead: optimistic, bubbly, kind to a fault, kind of clumsy and ditzy but always putting her all into everything and refusing to leave anyone behind. Things that her mother would say made her a "useless daughter" were now strengths that let her be a light in the dark for others. She even found love during this time, in your typical sweet shoujo love story.

However, as she got older she and other Dreamers struggled with balancing their waking lives and their lives as Dreamers, and started to wonder what they could do for the future Dreamers. From this, the Dreamer Union would eventually be formed, with Odette as one of its founding members. During the formation of the Union Odette became a very public figure - long disowned by her family for defying their orders to return home, she did not have the family wealth to turn to for helping the Union. As such, she compensated for this by spear heading a lot of the efforts to get the Union the funding and recognition it needed to be operational, using her natural charisma and determination to win government officials and the public over. She became quite famous for this, and for a while was even considered one of the main faces of the Union.

She stayed a mentor for a long time, her high levels of energy letting her keep up with the younger members even as she herself was getting on in the years. She stayed a beloved figure and even a bit of a legend among other Dreamers, and continued doing a lot of charity work in the greater Yumemigaoka community as well, investing a lot of her own money into the place that gave her a real home and earning her even more infamy.

And then suddenly, about 18 years ago, Odette lost all her powers.

She withdrew from the public eye, retired from mentoring, and handed most of her other official Union business off to her husband. Maybe if you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of her now and then when she stops by for a visit, but for the most part Odette seems perfectly content to leave Dreamer life behind completely - not once did she ever look sad or disappointed, she just stayed her usual upbeat self. No one quite knows why her powers disappeared, as Odette herself certainly never spoke of it beyond that it happened, but there's a few rumors that circle around now and then when people start doing the math.

Because less than a year after they disappeared, Odette's first child was born.

And this is the legacy that Odile Cygnia now walks into.

A 17 year old genderfluid transfemme, Odile has always admired their mother. Having grown up hearing stories about Odette's time as a Dreamer, Odile wanted nothing more than to be one like she was. Though they primarily go by their father's family name Inuyama while living on their own at school, this is merely to avoid too much attention and not out of any shame being Dreamer Swan's child.

Though they physically resemble their mother quite strongly, with the different last name and the drastically different personalities you wouldn't be blamed for not immediately catching on. Where Odette was loud, friendly and bubbly, Odile is quiet, shy and withdrawn. Odette ran at everything full tilt with all the genki energy of your average kids anime protagonist, meanwhile Odile tends to be too cautious. Odette was bold and never afraid to try, but Odile is anxious and lacks self confidence.

It doesn't help that sometimes rumors pop up that maybe... Odile is why Odette lost her powers. As if Odile themselves stole them in the womb. These ideas get to them but more than that Odile has always wondered: did Odette ever regret no longer being a Dreamer? It was something she loved so much after all. And can they truly ever hope of being as great as her now that they have awakened? Despite these worries though they intend to give it their all and do their best to step into her shoes.

tl;dr: Famous Dreamer who was more like your typical mahou shoujo protagonist (Usagi, Sakura, etc.) and a founding member of the Dreamer Union has a child who is now trying to step into the very big shoes she left behind, but is much more timid, anxious and unsure of themselves (in part because of speculative rumors about why their mother lost their powers).

(Also I am undecided on if Odile should also be called Dreamer Swan or go by Dreamer Cygnet. Opinions welcome!)

Short Term & Long Term Plans:
I mean you can probably guess where I want to go from that description but I'd like to go a character arc where they become more confident and overcome their doubts! Yep that's about it.

Desired CR/AU Castmates:
I would absolutely love it if there could be some folks who knew Odile's mother, or just like. Anyone willing to play around with her being this known figure and realizing (or not realizing right away and being surprised later!) that Odile is her kid. Also the high expectations that come with being said kid. I think it'd be fun to play with!
Otherwise I would like friends for my birb pls i don't know i'm bad at these kinds of memes lmao
