Welcome to Beautiful Dreamer's very first AU/CR Plotting Meme! This first version is going up in advance of the game itself to give potential applicants the opportunity to feel out how they want to play their AUs as well as shopping around for pre-game CR and potentially some CR castmates...??? Perish the thought!
During future app rounds, the AU and CR Plotting memes will be split in two in order for new players to have a bit of breathing room in workshopping their CR but in this pre-game stretch while we're all chewing on the bars of our collective cage you get a two for one deal!
Don't feel as though you have to be 100% beholden to anything you brainstorm here – ultimately this is just to get ideas flowing and to help prebake some character connections before entry into the game. Feel free to also take a look around the FAQ pages or tag about on the TDM before posting here and generate some ideas that way!

Character Name: Novae "Novvy" Rex aka Dreamer Ballade Canon: original character from a wip magical girl game project named Star Brides
About: consider an adorable, plucky little girl with a distinct theme animal (🐇) and a tumultuous past, whose struggling single dad in his 30s abruptly awakens as a Dreamer.
Novvy Rex is that guy. A renowned star ballerina... 10+ years out of practice. current hostage of the grind. life irreparably altered when a twist of fate un-buried his dreams of the stage just enough that he made attractive prey to a Nightmare-- and thus sparked into Awakening.
So, hes super new to this, and i wanna play out his awakening as a recent event w dreamers who might be interested! If anything having 8 more hours of the day he can draw paycheck out of is gonna be even more earthshattering than the 'in my dreams, I'm fearless and at the top of my game again' thing. Thenk you Dreamer Union for his life.
Novvy has worked a LONG string of various inglorious entry-level positions until landing the dance instructor job that rattled him Awake. Four years since he came out to this city and he's went from unworldly display-shelf housewife to jack-of-all-trades.... he'd say he's hashtag #thriving but his high resting heartrate and nicotine dependency do not agree.
As a Dreamer, Novvy tries to keep his two lives in separate boxes, banking on his dramatic differences in the waking vs dreaming worlds letting him stay under the radar and playing very coy with information about his waking self around his fellow Dreamers. This drops the moment he's interacting with the Union, though. No fooling around with the meal ticket.
As Dreamer Ballade, he comes off as very unserious... as Novvy Rex, he's like a pulled taut string.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: oh boy okay Well for starters I want to live deliciously playing an extremely niche storyline/character concept.... I'm going to rot my own teeth out with sweet parent fluff just doing side content for myself
ANYWAY. I have LOTS of ideas, more than can be reasonably stuffed in here, but a big vibe is getting novvy to come to terms with the life he left behind when he left his husband, and also for him to like. Come to a place of equilibrium. I'm kind of setting his little toy car down just Before the real climbing out of the hole begins.
I plan on taking symbolic inspiration for his arc(s???) from various famous ballets, starting with Don Quixote which is the journal name origin!!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: I have a post over here w a bunch of spitballing for potential connections, though the Big One of a babysitter-on-call for Novvy's daughter Gratia has been filled. But tl;dr: need a dance teacher? Former coworker? An excited rookie Dreamer who got a super late start?
Also the concept of filling in roles in his backstory JUST really hit for me and I wanna note
Old friends for him to reconnect with would be AWESOME
ALSO IVE BEEN THINKING it came up in the tdm thread that the nature of novvy's concept means i'll have to rp gratia a bit too in scenes with him... i wanna figure out how to handle that. i would be cool with using one of my Mundane People character slots on her, and i could make her a journal, but for the sake of scene flow i would only use it when novvy's not around. i dont wanna like sit around roleplaying w myself tho and will naturally only really do this as it comes up as needed
PLEAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE novvy is so bereft of elder gays in his life. he knew some when he was a touring ballerina but that was over ten years ago and he thought he was a cis questioning-heterosexual then. he didn't understand what he had when he had it. he's starved.
