Welcome to Beautiful Dreamer's very first AU/CR Plotting Meme! This first version is going up in advance of the game itself to give potential applicants the opportunity to feel out how they want to play their AUs as well as shopping around for pre-game CR and potentially some CR castmates...??? Perish the thought!
During future app rounds, the AU and CR Plotting memes will be split in two in order for new players to have a bit of breathing room in workshopping their CR but in this pre-game stretch while we're all chewing on the bars of our collective cage you get a two for one deal!
Don't feel as though you have to be 100% beholden to anything you brainstorm here – ultimately this is just to get ideas flowing and to help prebake some character connections before entry into the game. Feel free to also take a look around the FAQ pages or tag about on the TDM before posting here and generate some ideas that way!

Character Name: Ryoko Shinonome Canon: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
About:
⧖ A totally normal teenager who grew up in Yumemigaoka. Pretty grumpy and quiet and standoffish but an okay kid to hang around with if you can get her used to your presence. Child of a divorced couple, currently living with her mom. ⧖ Around ~6 months prior to the game starting, she was attacked by a Nightmare in her dreams. The Dreamer who attempted to help her wasn't able to save Ryoko in time and her frustration and anger at the situation caused her Awakening. ⧖ Due to how long she was stuck in the Nightmare's grasp, however, she woke up with almost all her prior memories totally erased. Her memories of schooling and how to live day to day life have remained, but all of her personal memories are completely gone. ⧖ Ryoko does NOT want to be involved with the DU or any Dreamer BS so she more or less completely ignores her powers and tries to go back to her normal life. But increasingly, it feels like she doesn't fit there anymore - she feels like an intruder in someone else's life. ⧖ Craving a fresh start, she eventually makes the decision to sign up with the Dreamer Union, transfer to Promised Morning and start fighting in the Dream Sphere ⧖ This causes a HUGE blowup with her mom for understandable reasons, but Ryoko's convinced that if she can find and destroy the Nightmare that attacked her, she'll return to her old self which will be better for everyone. ⧖ Because of the rift this causes, she now lives away from home with a different guardian instead of her mom and is splitting her time 50/50 between school and fighting in the Dream Sphere
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Short term will be just getting her settled into her new life and making friends! Ryoko will be a transfer student at Promised Morning and a Novice Dreamer so most of her time in the first few months will be her coming to grips with the changes going on.
Long term, I want her to actually delve into dealing with the actual core of her emotional issues and start healing – while Ryoko's intended end point is more or less "retcon the current me so the Old, Superior Me can come back Where She Belongs", what I intend her overall arc to be about is Ryoko re-learning to imagine a future for herself and to understand that she, as the self she currently is, has value and deserves to be happy.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Oh god. Everything!!! New classmates. New friends. Old classmates and friends!!! People who knew Ryoko before everything happened and now have to deal with her having no memory of them and somehow being even more scrunkly and standoffish than she was before. Mentors! People to look out for her! Honestly I would actually really love to have someone play Ryoko's current guardian - I purposely left that relationship a little vague in case it needs handwaving but I think it could be really juicy and interesting to play out in practice. If you are down to be Ryoko's dad/uncle/aunt/etc and look out for a scrunkly girl please let me know!!!

EVEN IF HE WEREN'T IT MIGHT BE FUN I haven't got many details for his AU hashed out yet so I'm down for whatever! Kaoru would live in a pretty big ass house (ft NotAlexa installed like everywhere sorry) so he'd have room for One Small Girl but if you'd prefer that he wasn't literally her guardian, she could be working part time for him or something!
i think she's pretty focused on dreamer stuff for the time being so idk if she'd go for part timing but i would defo be down for guardian cr either way!
PLEEEEASE... it's both funny and kind of sad if Ryoko just thinks she's kind of a bitch for no reason and is rude back only to eventually Realize and have similarly messy/conflicting feelings about it on her end too
THE KIDS AIN'T ALRIGHT... I think she would probably be annoyed as hell by the concern because ryoko is just generally like that BUT that's cr i would absolutely be down for
PLEAAAASE I'M GONNA PASS OUT THAT'S TOO GOOD........ it's such a good hook for ryoko having this begrudging sense of responsibility towards him too, bc now she feels like she has to show him the ropes in turn even tho she has no goddamn idea what she's doing either.
if youre still up for it im here for "used to be besties" in the context we played (minus the dating i guess) if you dont mind her being inflicted with a mysterious anime boy who only contacts her with a burner phone so she wont see their old chats since he's got the emotional intelligence of a toaster
PLEASE... I absolutely love the idea of her having a small but tightknit friend group left over from the pre-amnesia times that she just has absolutely no idea how to handle bc. who the hell are these people.
The more I'm thinking about it the more I'm thinking Link here will fit as sort of a supporting role for characters. So I'm volunteering him to back up Ryoko here on her quest and in regular life. Maybe packing an extra lunch for her cause, correct me if I'm wrong, but this girl looks like she has a problem with skipping meals.
Maybe as a new friend to help the idea that who she is now has some value too?
the amount of characters who have looked at ryoko and gone "this girl needs a least two additional people to keep her alive" delights me beyond all reason. i'm in
