Don't feel as though you have to be 100% beholden to anything you brainstorm here – ultimately this is just to get ideas flowing and to help prebake some character connections before entry into the game. Character Name: Ruby Hoshino Canon: Oshi no Kou
About: Ruby is pretty similar to her canon here, where she's the daughter of famous idol Ai Hoshino & an up-and-coming idol herself (she was also a dying Ai superfan in her past life but let's not worry about that one) So far the tl;dr of the AU is "Ruby with 50% less mommy issues" in that her mom is alive and here for her in her teens, along with the flavor of having wanted to become a dreamer like her mom since she was young but only recently awakening.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: My main plan is to have Ruby have a gradual arc of forming her own identity and moving on from her past life: her Dreamer from will start off with similarities to Ai and gradually become more individualized with character development. There's some loose threads with her life as Sarina that I'd love to explore as nightmares sometime, other than that I am largely gonna be winging it, I'm here for a good time!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Ruby comes with a bit of prebaked CR already just from Ai being in the game, so I'd love to chat with anyone who's worked at DU and may have seen a younger Ruby around or other folks involved with an idol scene of some kind. I would also love to bounce off castmates so if anyone tests out an Aqua Kana or Mem-cho I'm coming for you
Anything Else?: Remind me in the morning to make a meme of Ruby like those charts from that one nepo baby article from like a year ago
So Amane is definitely one of those pre-baked CR people, and prrrrrobably one of the ones still in-game who actually know of her being related to Ai, given that, uh-- Ai is really close friends with his family and have used their cafe/shop as a place to spend time with her kiddos, so 8') I'd like to think she probably spent a decent amount around Amane and his own twin brother growing up...? Just imagining her and Aqua scheming against the Yugi bros over who gets to get the most Ai time, lmao--
(Also his mom probably doted HARDCORE on her whenever she came to visit, when you live with two gremlin boys, you just want to spoil a little girl sometimes instead 8'|)
YEAH I imagine the Yugi twins as childhood friends/whatever the scheming equivalent would be, so Ruby has probably remained close to Amane over time and would prob soak up any attention his mom gave her as well lol
Now I can only see Ruby as a kid being cuddled by his Mom and giving Amane a smug look, and then him just crawling into Ai's lap and returning the look back at her like

But ugh god, the idea of them being childhood friends/pseudo-siblings who both bug each other but also occasionally get caught up in Scheming Battles/alliances (because lbr, they probably have tried to dunk on Aqua SO MANY TIMES) is too good.... and tbh, Amane's been doing the Dreamer thing for a while now (and even trained under Ai), so he'd be happy to help her out whenever she's not busy with her mom!

So Hibiki is both a huge superfan of Ai and as of recently, part of her new music-based unit, so I'd like to imagine that they could have a mildly pre-baked CR in being friends, whether just by virtue of peppy personalities being drawn to each other or mutual superfan bonding. That said, Hibiki definitely isn't at a point where she knows much of anything about Ai's homelife, which means that unless anybody outright tells her, she's not gonna know about Ruby's relation to Ai outside of "fellow Ai groupie".
Oh Ruby would love Hibiki given she’s a fellow superfan and idol girlie so they definitely would be buddies at the very least and possibly working together in the future. I need to double check with Claire and co. how common knowledge Ai’s twins are but the thought of Hibiki not knowing until Ai or Ruby casually mention it is kinda funny
Hibiki fights while singing, but her self-confidence is actually in the pits despite what her peppy personality might imply AND despite the fact that she's got Aoi Yuuki pipes, so I'm just imagining a conversation along the lines of "Ahaha, I'm not nearly good enough to be an actual singer!" "WHAT DO YOU MEAN!??" which is honestly just a conversation Hibiki needs to have like, in general—
Iirc it's not common knowledge? But I'm also not Claire—or even playing an OnK character for that matter, so like, take anything I say on that front with a single grain of salt.
Though either way, Hibiki being oblivious until Ruby casually calls Ai "Mama" in front of her or something would still be amazing. See above icon—
hello i NEED ruby to call connor out for being a fake fan of ai and be really annoyed about it
he was strongly encouraged (read: forced) to pretend to be a fan of her for pr reasons and now he's ended up in this hellish situation where he's appearing with her at events and choreographing to her christmas single
he didn't want this any more than she does ok people just got really suspicious that they've never been at an event together despite them both being the face of the DU (on opposite sides of the ocean)
....... but he does know five songs. there was a quiz from his PR lady involved.
