Character Name: Ruby Hoshino Canon: Oshi no Kou
About: Ruby is pretty similar to her canon here, where she's the daughter of famous idol Ai Hoshino & an up-and-coming idol herself (she was also a dying Ai superfan in her past life but let's not worry about that one) So far the tl;dr of the AU is "Ruby with 50% less mommy issues" in that her mom is alive and here for her in her teens, along with the flavor of having wanted to become a dreamer like her mom since she was young but only recently awakening.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: My main plan is to have Ruby have a gradual arc of forming her own identity and moving on from her past life: her Dreamer from will start off with similarities to Ai and gradually become more individualized with character development. There's some loose threads with her life as Sarina that I'd love to explore as nightmares sometime, other than that I am largely gonna be winging it, I'm here for a good time!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Ruby comes with a bit of prebaked CR already just from Ai being in the game, so I'd love to chat with anyone who's worked at DU and may have seen a younger Ruby around or other folks involved with an idol scene of some kind. I would also love to bounce off castmates so if anyone tests out an Aqua Kana or Mem-cho I'm coming for you

So Amane is definitely one of those pre-baked CR people, and prrrrrobably one of the ones still in-game who actually know of her being related to Ai, given that, uh-- Ai is really close friends with his family and have used their cafe/shop as a place to spend time with her kiddos, so 8') I'd like to think she probably spent a decent amount around Amane and his own twin brother growing up...? Just imagining her and Aqua scheming against the Yugi bros over who gets to get the most Ai time, lmao--
(Also his mom probably doted HARDCORE on her whenever she came to visit, when you live with two gremlin boys, you just want to spoil a little girl sometimes instead 8'|)
So Hibiki is both a huge superfan of Ai and as of recently, part of her new music-based unit, so I'd like to imagine that they could have a mildly pre-baked CR in being friends, whether just by virtue of peppy personalities being drawn to each other or mutual superfan bonding. That said, Hibiki definitely isn't at a point where she knows much of anything about Ai's homelife, which means that unless anybody outright tells her, she's not gonna know about Ruby's relation to Ai outside of "fellow Ai groupie".

Which says a lot about Cid yes.
Character Name: Jade Harley Canon: Homestuck
About: Orphaned at a very early age and raised by her eccentric wealthy grandfather on his private island until he suddenly died one day, leaving her alone on the island with their dog Becquerel for maybe a year or two before her situation was discovered and she was rescued. I think she may have had some adventures in the Dream Sphere that led to somebody finally coming to rescue her in the Waking World? I'm currently still toying with whether to make her an experienced Dreamer who is still getting over her Waking World secluded life or making her a newbie at the Dream Sphere too... leaning towards making her an experienced Dreamer though.
Personalitywise, she's still very much like canon! A fun-loving girl with a love for gardening, music, and nuclear physics, who is very self-reliant and wants everyone else to be able to rely on her too. Intense internal pressure what intense internal pressure her personal standards are perfectly normal. She cares very much about her friends but isn't the most tactful. She tries to always stay upbeat and excited! She is not the best at being understanding when other people are not trying to do the same. She is intensely lonely but telling anyone that would bring the mood down so why would she do that.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: I don't really have plans as such yet, I've just been looking through my muselist looking for someone who might work in Beautiful Dreamer. Mostly I just want to see how she integrates with the cast and setting, and generally have some fun.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Anything and everything! Friends, rivals, frenemies, possibly a romantic interest dependent ages involved - maybe even relatives she didn't previously know about! I'd be taking her as-of the end of Act 7, so she'd only be 16 and possibly in need of a guardian?

About: I'm still workshopping AU details but Hatchetfield is still A Weird Little Town in Michigan but instead of being the secret playground for eldritch god Teletubbies it's got a pretty bad Torments/Nightmare problem they've never really been able to get under control. Peter spent his entire life there, up until the summer before his senior year of high school. I'm toying between him being an exchange student or his mom getting a promotion at her job and the family transplanting to Yumemigaoka (his friend Richie was devastated, a little more because Peter was living his dream than the fact he was moving away).
Either way his Dreamer awakening absolutely involved getting caught in a Nightmare attack (and still needing to be rescued despite this). Now he's having trouble adjusting to both new surroundings and the responsibilities of being a Dreamer when what he'd like to do is be Unnoticeable.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: No super concrete plans so far! Mostly my goals are to get this boy some solid self-confidence and let him be a Cool And Nerdy Support Magical Boy.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Fellow teens! Pete left behind his entire two friends (and canon love interest and the religious nut classmate, rip) back in Hatchetfield, he needs to awkwardly build friendships since he can't fall back on people he's known since first grade. Adults who'll indulge his scholastic interests (especially chemistry) and who'll teach him how to do his mahou thing because he's a fucking wreck would also be incredible.

About: Eridanus is the eldest of three sons, each of which maintain a branch of their family's company. He was the lucky guy who got shipped overseas, to Yumemigaoka. He was somewhat aware of dreamers before moving to their original city, but he tends to focus on work first and anything else second. Essentially, he's my cold and stubborn grandpa who thinks everything should be no fun allowed.
It isn't until his own stress from the pressure his family puts on him manifests as a nightmare, that he awakens as a dreamer himself. Now, he's caught between two lives and double the responsibility... But he has to wonder, can he maintain both? Or will he have to give up one, for the other?
Short Term & Long Term Plans: No long terms plans other than this is yet another game I throw this OC into to see if he can find true happiness when ripped from the parameters of his original backstory :)

I ask because my top contender to app here (this sad tiny boy) is the heir to a highly influential aerospace company and generally sort of a big deal or w/e and it might be interesting if his dad knew Eridanus/his family’s company. Also there’s bonus found family/mentor potential because I don’t know if you’re familiar with Katamari Damacy but his dad (the King of All Cosmos) is a Real Piece of Work as a father :’|

About: i am still working a lot of stuff out, but by the nature of the canon and character, the au is going to be Very Different. my rough plan right now is that she is the young adult heir (22ish?) to some very old and essentially powerless but rich aristocrats. she hasn't ever been that into the family business of doing nothing and complaining about the poor, but for some reason she's been targeted A Lot by enemies of her family, and after a recent kidnapping attempt that she foiled, she convinced her parents to let her leave for a while aaaand that's how she ended up here.
because that kidnapping actually led to her awakening! so her plan is to figure all that out, consistently escape her bodyguards, and try to be normal for five fucking seconds. good luck girlypop
Short Term & Long Term Plans: right now i'm in vibes territory! ultimately what i would like is to Play In The Space - because canon is setting-restrictive and cyclical, exploring the positives and negatives of her and how reactive she can be in a wider setting is my big #1 goal and i'm hoping to explore that icly through big fuckoff culture shock and generally adjusting to being a person with agency. beyond that, i'd really like to get to explore the differences between how she'll be as a Dreamer (much more open and honest) vs how she will be in the waking world (more reserved and controlled) and how that affects others' perception of her.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: pretty flexible! i'm open to anything with the caveat that she is going to be, like, literally a couple weeks new to the country, so anybody she knows she will just barely know. some ideas off the dome—

this is really funny but a thing that got decided about connor when i was here a few months ago is that he's (extremely distantly) related to a european royal family so it would be UNSPEAKABLY funny if he was her pen pal and he's just like "fucking sucks here. hate it." every letter and she was like "the only other person i know outside this country lives in this city. i'll go there!"

About: Erika leads a rather normal life with her parents and elder brother until she and her parents are caught up in a car accident that ends in their death and her acquisition of a traumatic brain injury. This is basically canon. The divergence is what happens after that because the Cyber Sleuth universe is nutterbutter.
...At this point I have a gajillion options about how/where/when in her backstory to engage with the game's central premise, but the core vibes from canon remain: recovery is hard and leaves her with a strong sense of alienation not just from life and her peers and everything but also from her former self; the whole thing is massively traumatic for her brother, too, who is a fresh adult and now an orphan and his little sister's legal guardian; Erika becomes something of a shut-in (it's not school refusal if you have a medical reason, but...); she becomes very fond of the Butterfly Dream metaphor to express how she relates to, like, existence; there is a metaphorical caterpillar perhaps? Also she's kind of rude and mean. Some of which is understandable but like.
Here is an incomplete list of ideas about what I could do around and after that, many of which are mutually exclusive: - ????something with that mention of "Figments can become detached from their original selves and break off into their own entities" that I'm gonna ask for more info about when I'm slightly less feverish???? That's so eerily close to [foghorn noises cshm spoilers] that it might be a sin to ignore it - She comes to Yumemigaoka for treatment at some point because ??something with the above?? or Nightmare attack or some other Dream Sphere malady complicates her condition further, and so has been here for a few years - She does not come to Yumemigaoka until very recently because she's been fucking around as a solo Dreamer for a little while and now she's here to be wrangled into doing it properly but boy howdy has she developed some bad habits - She's been a Dreamer for a while and has been hiding it from her brother and care team for complicated interpersonal reasons, but there's really only so long you can keep that up - She's been a Dreamer since the accident and everyone knew about it and it's another source of stress for her poor brother - She starts out unpowered and someone can be involved in her Awakening because she's like...she's got issues and maybe that would be fun? Is that a thing we do here? - This is Dreamer Butterfly she's my dreamersona and metaphor for my experiences with traumatic metamorphosis from one person into another slightly different person. Is she real? Wouldn't you like to know weatherboy - ?????????????????? Oh my god there are so many options for how to spin this.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Her canon signature thing is literally called Infinity Dream she was made for this shit (identity stuff via dream metaphors and turning into a butterfly-themed hero to kick monsters around).
Starting her off as a somewhat feral Dreamer and Incredibly Rude (socially anxious) (but so rude) Child who learns to play nice over time. Maybe. Or at least just be more selectively rude. Sometimes she's rude to you but will also kill a man for you. It be like that.
Letting her be people's Weird Friend who doesn't go to school. Or maybe she does and despises it. She's like 14-15 years old? Idk maaaan

Also probably some, like, personal arc/conflict about her using the Dream Sphere to feel cool and powerful and unhindered, which is valid, but maybe she's kind of neglecting her own Waking World recovery and life for it? With the whole digging in her heels about going back to school and socializing thing?
ULTIMATELY THOUGH since I would be apping her next cycle rather than this one, I'm less interested in pitching CR than I am in batting around ideas for how the recent history part of the AU plays out, and what kind of intro people might want to play with - new weird kid at school, solo Dreamer learns teamwork bullshit, delayed Awakening, or whatever else.

I don't know if I'm apping her into this round or next myself, but!! I'm planning on apping a character who is a pediatric nurse. She was an active Dreamer as a teenager and is now returning to it. Planning on having her transfer to Yumemigaoka out of a desire to, uhhh. Get A Fresh Start. But I had the thought that she could be assigned to Erika's care team! Whether Erika is a Dreamer and everyone knows it or keeping it a secret or needs someone involved in her Awakening— it's an idea to play with! Gives her someone older who wants to talk with her, too.

Character Name: Orthrus (Akira Inuyama in this AU) Canon: original
About: In his original universe Orthrus is a demi god alien kaiju who wakes up from a depression nap only to stumble into becoming a full time wife guy and dad. Here, we skip to the wife guy and dad part and his name is Akira. That is to say he is specifically the wife guy of retired dreamer/founding member/former face of the DU itself Odette Cygnia a.k.a. Dreamer Swan. (Which also makes him the father of my previous character, Odile!)
To get more into it: Akira was Odette’s childhood friend and eventual high school sweetheart when she first became Dreamer Swan. Unbeknownst to most people, including his own children, Akira was also a dreamer as a child: Dreamer Raven. (This was in my original app for Odile but I just never got around to doing anything with it) He had fallen victim to a particularly nasty and powerful nightmare, but Odette put herself through hell trying to save him and eventually he was able to awaken as a Dreamer during the experience. That said, Akira's time as a dreamer was always sort of intrinsically entwined with his own trauma (the attack happened to him after some pretty bad bullying reached its peak) so it didn't quite do for him what it did for Odette and come high school he ended up giving it up so he could focus on school and his future. Despite that though he always stayed at Odette's side supporting her outside of the Dreamsphere and was part of her motivation for helping to establish the DU. As such, he has ultimately had a pretty big involvement in it, from its early days and even to now.
Currently he teaches at Promised Morning Academy and is at the DU on occasion mostly in relation to that or doing something on Odette's behalf. His powers as a Dreamer didn't technically go away after he gave it up but he's only returned to the Dreamsphere once: to mentor Ai at Odette's request. They seem pretty much gone now though... or at least he hasn't tried using them even though he's anxious as hell about his oldest kid awakening as one--
Short Term & Long Term Plans: If it's not clear, Akira is here to be a mundane! I don't really have any exact plans besides playing in the space that this AU affords. He's already had a full and meaningful character arc in his youth, he can be the one to help others with theirs.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: So as teacher the big one here is STUDENTS!! In my head his main fields are probably home economics and music, though I have also considered swapping out one of those for something like history and let the other be something related to a club he's an advisor for or something idk. On that note, getting pulled into being a club advisor would be fun as well I think. His general attitude as a teacher is to dad the hell out of anyone who needs it so if that's something you need I am here for it. Also ofc cr with fellow DU folks, especially anyone who's been with the organization for a while. I also can't decide if it's better to have his Dreamer past be completely unknown to everyone or like. The BIGGEST open secret. Like he thinks no one else knows but in truth almost everyone knows (especially anyone who put two and two together and realized Odette couldn't have possibly trained Ai in the Dreamsphere because her powers were already gone by then lmao) and they just don't bring it up to humor him.

Ouji Damashii, age 14-15? Short and scrawny. Just a real little guy.
Basically, instead of being royalty beloved(?) by the whole world, his family is simply very wealthy and well-known in social circles, especially his father.
His father comes from money and is originally from an island known as Himawari. He inherited the family business from Ouji’s grandpa, a prestigious and cutting edge aerospace organization that studies space travel and engineers ships and satellites known as AllCosmos. It’s, idk, it’s sort of like halfway between NASA and Space X? Lol
Mother is a loving housewife from a modest household. The two met when they were youngsters during father's rebellious youth.
The family moved to Yumemigaoka before Ouji was born to expand AllCosmos operations and study the potential of space travel within the Dream World.
Ouji is the sole heir to the family fortune and name. He lives in his father's shadow and is trying very very hard to live up to everyone’s expectations for him.
Shy and quiet, but very curious. Opens up/can be almost a little cheeky around friends (but that requires having friends :’) …)
Father is both VERY capricious and VERY strict and known to be very verbally and occasionally even physically abusive towards him. He often makes messes that Ouji has to clean up, literally and metaphorically.
Extremely polite and proper.
A total pushover doormat. Apologizing constantly for fear of upsetting someone.
Adores space and astronomy. Really good at identifying stars and constellations. shit I better get studying…
Has a huge extended family spread out throughout Japan.
Probably either isn’t a dreamer yet or will have only just recently awoken as one. He will probably be trying to keep it a secret from his parents? Not totally sure there yet. Open to ideas/anyone with experience with the matter!
Dreamer name unknown and I’m open to suggestions on this. Dreamer Cosmos? Dreamer Katamari??? Anyway he’ll have a little katamari-like ball as a weapon and roll it into people. I’m thinking his powers will be aggregation and adhesion based, with a sprinkling of rainbows and lasers a la the King’s powers.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Prince is so skiddish and has such low self esteem as a result of his dad. I’d love for him to branch out and gain confidence and friends. He secretly really wants to be appreciated as himself, not just as the AllCosmos heir, so character growth and forming meaningful bonds is a big thing for me.
Long term, it’d be really cool for him to deal with his Dad Issues - maybe even standing up to the old man eventually (in much the same way his dad stood up to his own very strict father when he was young and in love!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: EVERYONE? Everyone. Like I’ve said, the Damashii family is rich and famous so it’s not surprising if you’ve heard about them at least in passing. I’d especially love with the other famous or rich characters since they’d probably know of each other, as well as any other kids his age as potential friends or bullies! Older kids and teachers to look out for him would be good too. He gives off strong PROTECC vibes.
but seriously, Amane is a massive astronomy nerd and literally will not ever shut up about it if asked, so he would be absolutely thrilled to make friends with somebody who's as much into space as he is (especially someone his age too?? OMG)

About: So Rue's got a bad dad, and you know what a great excuse to get away is? That's right, awakening Dreamer powers and moving to Japan to train at them for the glory of her bloodline. Being a sad little rich girl, Rue has the material resources to do this with his vague, neglectful blessing. Please pay no attention to her chronic health condition symptoms or how hard she's going at practice she's FINE and NORMAL
In her canon she is already essentially the evil fairy-tale version of a magical girl, so she seems super easy to integrate into the setting overall in terms of powers and aesthetic. I still have to workshop stuff like uhhhh her fuckin name and what her dad is (ruthless capitalist? old money who owns a ballet company? fuck man idk how do i translate a monster raven into just a dude) but overall the vibe of being slightly out of sync and yet fitting in fine is baked into her character (being an anime girl but technically being from Germany???) so like. fuck it we ball
Short Term & Long Term Plans: First of all, I'm not sure yet if she's better to bring in at her canon age of ~14 or instead as a young adult. I'm kind of leaning towards being a bit older since I haven't played her at that stage before and I think it'd be neat, but both are totally workable and it seems like we have a good spread of ages so she'd have peers either way. If you have strong feelings tell me them aaaa
Regardless everyone knows I'm a slut for friends and found family for a sadgirl. Developing as a Dreamer is going to be super important to Rue, but so will learning to be less determined and learning better work-life balance for mental wellness. I am a very go with the flow kind of player and am super open to most stuff, so if you have fun ideas I wanna hear them!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Rue being isolated and lonely is key to who she is, so unfortunately she's not allowed to have any existing close friends/family. There's room for like one friend that is her unknowing lifeline to the outside world, so if you want a weirdly intense penpal or dream buddy who may or may not have developed a crush on you, let me know!

About: I'm still building an idea but Generally Speaking, you've got a professional Dreamer who's more than a little past his prime and desperate to retire, even though the organization keeps convincing him to come back in for more work because he's important (partly because he's a surly loser with nothing else going on). Though he's incredibly aware that almost no one he knows is still working, he's still an effective, if rather unimaginative, fighter harboring a great power.

About: Radley's wealthy, society-driven family lives in the city as Spanish-American ex-pats and Radley grew up there. During a Nightmare, he awakened as a Dreamer as a teenager. He learned for a while at the Union, enough to become an Experienced Dreamer, but eventually rejected the power after a failed battle ended with an innocent party losing her memories. He blamed himself. His family disowned him for giving up being a Dreamer, as well as for his love of jewelry and motorcycles. He left the city to make his own way and experienced the approximate canon events of Crash Town (I really don't have to change much at all for this arc to fit into the real world). He became the leader of one of the two gangs vying for control of Crash Town and its mine. Unlike his rival Malcolm, Radley cared about the town and the people and didn't terrorize or bully them. He could see the danger and the evil in Malcolm's group and did whatever he felt he had to do to keep Malcolm from seizing complete control, even if that meant agreeing to Malcolm's twisted terms to have their men willingly play the Duel Monsters card game each night and the loser go to work for the boss of the winner. This at least kept Malcolm at bay and he couldn't turn the town into a chaotic totalitarian regime as he wanted. After struggling for years to protect his town, failing in the end, and being tortured by Malcolm's men in the mines after his friends abandoned him in fear, Radley returns to the city in broken despair to try to further hone his powers as a Dreamer.
Radley is an intriguing series of contrasts: philosophical yet not above immature insults and silly rhyming words ("itty-bitty"), protective yet also fond of money, very friendly but aloof about himself. He loves motorcycles, money, classic rock, black leather, jewelry, and cooking. He knows when to be serious and has a dark understanding of the worst of human nature. In spite of that, he still believes in the good about people as well and hasn't lost his hope.
Possible Content Warnings: Radley will sometimes be thinking about being tortured via a shock collar, especially if he sees someone, good or bad, with electrical powers. He will not talk about it, however, unless a situation or a person really pushes it.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Radley is very discouraged after feeling he failed both as a Dreamer in the past and when he tried to protect Crash Town from his rival. He's suffering PTSD after being tortured in his rival's mine and is afraid of electrocution, so he will be distressed if there are any Dreamers or baddies with electric powers. He will really struggle dealing with anything like that for some time. He's also been rejected by his family and has to deal with that and being quite alone after coming back here from Crash Town. His friends joined Malcolm out of fear when Radley fell to Malcolm's brother Lawton in a fixed Duel Monsters card game, so he's also struggling with trust issues and fears further abandonment. He is still very friendly, but very aloof about himself and his past.
Long term, I hope for him to make and trust friends and come to be comfortable as a Dreamer, and perhaps to not continue to blame himself for the past.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: MY KINGDOM FOR A KALIN. I want a Kalin Kessler/Kiryu Kyousuke to interact with so bad, preferably post-Crash Town so they could really work through their canon issues (and possibly grow close??!), but I'd take any Kalin. Aside from that, I am happy to interact with any Yu-Gi-Oh! characters from any YGO series! YGO is one big happy family to me, whether I'm familiar with the specific series or not. I prefer dub names, but I totally respect others' preferences for Japanese names and mixing dub and sub names is not a deterrent to me at all. I would also love to interact with characters from other series I love, such as Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Tokyo Mew Mew, Full Moon wo Sagashite, etc.
Since Radley was a Dreamer before leaving, it would be interesting if he runs into people who knew him from before or knew of him, perhaps wondering why he left or knowing but not agreeing with his decision.
Radley loves to look after people, so finding someone to mentor or otherwise look after like a big brother would go a long way towards helping him heal. He also desperately needs someone he can feel is a confidante, someone to open up to about his pain. Radley thrives on being around people and does not do well when alone.

About: Ruby is pretty similar to her canon here, where she's the daughter of famous idol Ai Hoshino & an up-and-coming idol herself (she was also a dying Ai superfan in her past life but let's not worry about that one)
So far the tl;dr of the AU is "Ruby with 50% less mommy issues" in that her mom is alive and here for her in her teens, along with the flavor of having wanted to become a dreamer like her mom since she was young but only recently awakening.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: My main plan is to have Ruby have a gradual arc of forming her own identity and moving on from her past life: her Dreamer from will start off with similarities to Ai and gradually become more individualized with character development. There's some loose threads with her life as Sarina that I'd love to explore as nightmares sometime, other than that I am largely gonna be winging it, I'm here for a good time!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Ruby comes with a bit of prebaked CR already just from Ai being in the game, so I'd love to chat with anyone who's worked at DU and may have seen a younger Ruby around or other folks involved with an idol scene of some kind.

So Hibiki is both a huge superfan of Ai and as of recently, part of her new music-based unit, so I'd like to imagine that they could have a mildly pre-baked CR in being friends, whether just by virtue of peppy personalities being drawn to each other or mutual superfan bonding. Introduction: Hi y'all, I was here for a short bit a while back with a certain chuunibyou named Cid Kagenou before discovering that I don't have the nerve to actually play his degree of chuuni (and was therefore paralyzed from secondhand embarrassment whenever I tried to do anything and thus had to dip, oops,) trying again with something less embarrassing: Homestuck. Which says a lot about Cid yes.

About: Orphaned at a very early age and raised by her eccentric wealthy grandfather on his private island until he suddenly died one day, leaving her alone on the island with their dog Becquerel for maybe a year or two before her situation was discovered and she was rescued. I think she may have had some adventures in the Dream Sphere that led to somebody finally coming to rescue her in the Waking World? I'm currently still toying with whether to make her an experienced Dreamer who is still getting over her Waking World secluded life or making her a newbie at the Dream Sphere too... leaning towards making her an experienced Dreamer though.
Personalitywise, she's still very much like canon! A fun-loving girl with a love for gardening, music, and nuclear physics, who is very self-reliant and wants everyone else to be able to rely on her too. Intense internal pressure what intense internal pressure her personal standards are perfectly normal. She cares very much about her friends but isn't the most tactful. She tries to always stay upbeat and excited! She is not the best at being understanding when other people are not trying to do the same. She is intensely lonely but telling anyone that would bring the mood down so why would she do that.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: I don't really have plans as such yet, I've just been looking through my muselist looking for someone who might work in Beautiful Dreamer. Mostly I just want to see how she integrates with the cast and setting, and generally have some fun.

About: I'm still workshopping AU details but Hatchetfield is still A Weird Little Town in Michigan but instead of being the secret playground for eldritch god Teletubbies it's got a pretty bad Torments/Nightmare problem they've never really been able to get under control. Peter spent his entire life there, up until the summer before his senior year of high school. I'm toying between him being an exchange student or his mom getting a promotion at her job and the family transplanting to Yumemigaoka (his friend Richie was devastated, a little more because Peter was living his dream than the fact he was moving away).
Either way his Dreamer awakening absolutely involved getting caught in a Nightmare attack (and still needing to be rescued despite this). Now he's having trouble adjusting to both new surroundings and the responsibilities of being a Dreamer when what he'd like to do is be Unnoticeable.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: No super concrete plans so far! Mostly my goals are to get this boy some solid self-confidence and let him be a Cool And Nerdy Support Magical Boy.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Fellow teens! About: Eridanus is the eldest of three sons, each of which maintain a branch of their family's company. He was the lucky guy who got shipped overseas, to Yumemigaoka. He was somewhat aware of dreamers before moving to their original city, but he tends to focus on work first and anything else second. Essentially, he's my cold and stubborn grandpa who thinks everything should be no fun allowed.
It isn't until his own stress from the pressure his family puts on him manifests as a nightmare, that he awakens as a dreamer himself. Now, he's caught between two lives and double the responsibility... But he has to wonder, can he maintain both? Or will he have to give up one, for the other?

Okay so if I do do this then it will almost certainly not be in the next cycle, work is so busy it's unreal, and also I would need to do quite a bit more research to iron out the details here. About: Erika leads a rather normal life with her parents and elder brother until she and her parents are caught up in a car accident that ends in their death and her acquisition of a traumatic brain injury. This is basically canon. The divergence is what happens after that because the Cyber Sleuth universe is nutterbutter.
...At this point I have a gajillion options about how/where/when in her backstory to engage with the game's central premise, but the core vibes from canon remain: recovery is hard and leaves her with a strong sense of alienation not just from life and her peers and everything but also from her former self; the whole thing is massively traumatic for her brother, too, who is a fresh adult and now an orphan and his little sister's legal guardian; Erika becomes something of a shut-in (it's not school refusal if you have a medical reason, but...); she becomes very fond of the Butterfly Dream metaphor to express how she relates to, like, existence; there is a metaphorical caterpillar perhaps? Also she's kind of rude and mean. Some of which is understandable but like.
Here is an incomplete list of ideas about what I could do around and after that, many of which are mutually exclusive:
- ????something with that mention of "Figments can become detached from their original selves and break off into their own entities" that I'm gonna ask for more info about when I'm slightly less feverish???? That's so eerily close to [foghorn noises cshm spoilers] that it might be a sin to ignore it
- She comes to Yumemigaoka for treatment at some point because ??something with the above?? or Nightmare attack or some other Dream Sphere malady complicates her condition further, and so has been here for a few years
- She does not come to Yumemigaoka until very recently because she's been fucking around as a solo Dreamer for a little while and now she's here to be wrangled into doing it properly but boy howdy has she developed some bad habits
- She's been a Dreamer for a while and has been hiding it from her brother and care team for complicated interpersonal reasons, but there's really only so long you can keep that up
- She's been a Dreamer since the accident and everyone knew about it and it's another source of stress for her poor brother
- She starts out unpowered and someone can be involved in her Awakening because she's like...she's got issues and maybe that would be fun? Is that a thing we do here?
- This is Dreamer Butterfly she's my dreamersona and metaphor for my experiences with traumatic metamorphosis from one person into another slightly different person. Is she real? Wouldn't you like to know weatherboy

Short Term & Long Term Plans: Her canon signature thing is literally called Infinity Dream she was made for this shit (identity stuff via dream metaphors and turning into a butterfly-themed hero to kick monsters around).
Starting her off as a somewhat feral Dreamer and Incredibly Rude (socially anxious) (but so rude) Child who learns to play nice over time. Maybe. Or at least just be more selectively rude. Sometimes she's rude to you but will also kill a man for you. It be like that.
Letting her be people's Weird Friend who doesn't go to school. Or maybe she does and despises it. She's like 14-15 years old? Idk maaaan

Also probably some, like, personal arc/conflict about her using the Dream Sphere to feel cool and powerful and unhindered, which is valid, but maybe she's kind of neglecting her own Waking World recovery and life for it? ULTIMATELY THOUGH since I would be apping her next cycle rather than this one, I'm less interested in pitching CR than I am in batting around ideas for how the recent history part of the AU plays out, and what kind of intro people might want to play with - new weird kid at school, solo Dreamer learns teamwork bullshit, delayed Awakening, or whatever else.

I don't know if I'm apping her into this round or next myself, but!! I'm planning on apping a character who is a pediatric nurse. She was an active Dreamer as a teenager and is now returning to it. About:
In his original universe Orthrus is a demi god alien kaiju who wakes up from a depression nap only to stumble into becoming a full time wife guy and dad. Here, we skip to the wife guy and dad part and his name is Akira. That is to say he is specifically the wife guy of retired dreamer/founding member/former face of the DU itself Odette Cygnia a.k.a. Dreamer Swan. (Which also makes him the father of my previous character, Odile!)
To get more into it: Akira was Odette’s childhood friend and eventual high school sweetheart when she first became Dreamer Swan. Unbeknownst to most people, including his own children, Akira was also a dreamer as a child: Dreamer Raven. (This was in my original app for Odile but I just never got around to doing anything with it) He had fallen victim to a particularly nasty and powerful nightmare, but Odette put herself through hell trying to save him and eventually he was able to awaken as a Dreamer during the experience. That said, Akira's time as a dreamer was always sort of intrinsically entwined with his own trauma (the attack happened to him after some pretty bad bullying reached its peak) so it didn't quite do for him what it did for Odette and come high school he ended up giving it up so he could focus on school and his future. Despite that though he always stayed at Odette's side supporting her outside of the Dreamsphere and was part of her motivation for helping to establish the DU. As such, he has ultimately had a pretty big involvement in it, from its early days and even to now.
Currently he teaches at Promised Morning Academy and is at the DU on occasion mostly in relation to that or doing something on Odette's behalf. His powers as a Dreamer didn't technically go away after he gave it up but he's only returned to the Dreamsphere once: to mentor Ai at Odette's request. They seem pretty much gone now though... or at least he hasn't tried using them even though he's anxious as hell about his oldest kid awakening as one--

If it's not clear, Akira is here to be a mundane! I don't really have any exact plans besides playing in the space that this AU affords. He's already had a full and meaningful character arc in his youth, he can be the one to help others with theirs.

So as teacher the big one here is STUDENTS!! In my head his main fields are probably home economics and music, though I have also considered swapping out one of those for something like history and let the other be something related to a club he's an advisor for or something idk. About: So Rue's got a bad dad, and you know what a great excuse to get away is? That's right, awakening Dreamer powers and moving to Japan to train at them for the glory of her bloodline. Being a sad little rich girl, Rue has the material resources to do this with his vague, neglectful blessing. In her canon she is already essentially the evil fairy-tale version of a magical girl, so she seems super easy to integrate into the setting overall in terms of powers and aesthetic. I still have to workshop stuff like uhhhh her fuckin name and what her dad is (ruthless capitalist? old money who owns a ballet company? fuck man idk how do i translate a monster raven into just a dude) but overall the vibe of being slightly out of sync and yet fitting in fine is baked into her character (being an anime girl but technically being from Germany???) so like. fuck it we ball
Short Term & Long Term Plans: First of all, I'm not sure yet if she's better to bring in at her canon age of ~14 or instead as a young adult. I'm kind of leaning towards being a bit older since I haven't played her at that stage before and I think it'd be neat, but both are totally workable and it seems like we have a good spread of ages so she'd have peers either way. If you have strong feelings tell me them aaaa
Regardless everyone knows I'm a slut for friends and found family for a sadgirl. Developing as a Dreamer is going to be super important to Rue, but so will learning to be less determined and learning better work-life balance for mental wellness. I am a very go with the flow kind of player and am super open to most stuff, so if you have fun ideas I wanna hear them!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Rue being isolated and lonely is key to who she is, so unfortunately she's not allowed to have any existing close friends/family. There's room for like one friend that is her unknowing lifeline to the outside world, so if you want a weirdly intense penpal or dream buddy who may or may not have developed a crush on you, let me know!

About: I'm still building an idea but Generally Speaking, you've got a professional Dreamer who's more than a little past his prime and desperate to retire, even though the organization keeps convincing him to come back in for more work because he's important (partly because he's a surly loser with nothing else going on). Though he's incredibly aware that almost no one he knows is still working, he's still an effective, if rather unimaginative, fighter harboring a great power.
Personality-wise, he'd probably be a lot like his canon, hating his job, but doing it well except for not dealing with being the only chosen one who has to do most of the work. So, there's that.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Based on the description, you can probably imagine that Gary wants to retire. Whether that's through losing his power, or something else, I'd like to see it happen. Besides that, I don't have any plans and generally would like to see how he integrates.

Introduction: Hi, I love magical girl stories, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Radley. ;) I rather love the idea of him getting to be a magical boy, especially as I've already been tinkering with that in my fic verses.
Character Name: Radley
Canon: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds
About: Radley's wealthy, society-driven family lives in the city as Spanish-American ex-pats and Radley grew up there. During a Nightmare, he awakened as a Dreamer as a teenager. He learned for a while at the Union, enough to become an Experienced Dreamer, but eventually rejected the power after a failed battle ended with an innocent party losing her memories. He blamed himself. His family disowned him for giving up being a Dreamer, as well as for his love of jewelry and motorcycles. He left the city to make his own way and experienced the approximate canon events of Crash Town (I really don't have to change much at all for this arc to fit into the real world). He became the leader of one of the two gangs vying for control of Crash Town and its mine. Unlike his rival Malcolm, Radley cared about the town and the people and didn't terrorize or bully them. He could see the danger and the evil in Malcolm's group and did whatever he felt he had to do to keep Malcolm from seizing complete control, even if that meant agreeing to Malcolm's twisted terms to have their men willingly play the Duel Monsters card game each night and the loser go to work for the boss of the winner. This at least kept Malcolm at bay and he couldn't turn the town into a chaotic totalitarian regime as he wanted. After struggling for years to protect his town, failing in the end, and being tortured by Malcolm's men in the mines after his friends abandoned him in fear, Radley returns to the city in broken despair to try to further hone his powers as a Dreamer.
Radley is an intriguing series of contrasts: philosophical yet not above immature insults and silly rhyming words ("itty-bitty"), protective yet also fond of money, very friendly but aloof about himself. He loves motorcycles, money, classic rock, black leather, jewelry, and cooking. He knows when to be serious and has a dark understanding of the worst of human nature. In spite of that, he still believes in the good about people as well and hasn't lost his hope.
Possible Content Warnings: Radley will sometimes be thinking about being tortured via a shock collar, especially if he sees someone, good or bad, with electrical powers. He will not talk about it, however, unless a situation or a person really pushes it.
Short Term & Long Term Plans: Radley is very discouraged after feeling he failed both as a Dreamer in the past and when he tried to protect Crash Town from his rival. He's suffering PTSD after being tortured in his rival's mine and is afraid of electrocution, so he will be distressed if there are any Dreamers or baddies with electric powers. He will really struggle dealing with anything like that for some time. He's also been rejected by his family and has to deal with that and being quite alone after coming back here from Crash Town. His friends joined Malcolm out of fear when Radley fell to Malcolm's brother Lawton in a fixed Duel Monsters card game, so he's also struggling with trust issues and fears further abandonment. He is still very friendly, but very aloof about himself and his past.
Long term, I hope for him to make and trust friends and come to be comfortable as a Dreamer, and perhaps to not continue to blame himself for the past.
Desired CR/AU Castmates: MY KINGDOM FOR A KALIN. I want a Kalin Kessler/Kiryu Kyousuke to interact with so bad, preferably post-Crash Town so they could really work through their canon issues (and possibly grow close??!), but I'd take any Kalin. Aside from that, I am happy to interact with any Yu-Gi-Oh! characters from any YGO series! YGO is one big happy family to me, whether I'm familiar with the specific series or not. I prefer dub names, but I totally respect others' preferences for Japanese names and mixing dub and sub names is not a deterrent to me at all. I would also love to interact with characters from other series I love, such as Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Tokyo Mew Mew, Full Moon wo Sagashite, etc.
Since Radley was a Dreamer before leaving, it would be interesting if he runs into people who knew him from before or knew of him, perhaps wondering why he left or knowing but not agreeing with his decision.
Radley loves to look after people, so finding someone to mentor or otherwise look after like a big brother would go a long way towards helping him heal. He also desperately needs someone he can feel is a confidante, someone to open up to about his pain. Radley thrives on being around people and does not do well when alone.
