Character Name: Rue Canon: Princess Tutu
About: So Rue's got a bad dad, and you know what a great excuse to get away is? That's right, awakening Dreamer powers and moving to Japan to train at them for the glory of her bloodline. Being a sad little rich girl, Rue has the material resources to do this with his vague, neglectful blessing. Please pay no attention to her chronic health condition symptoms or how hard she's going at practice she's FINE and NORMAL
In her canon she is already essentially the evil fairy-tale version of a magical girl, so she seems super easy to integrate into the setting overall in terms of powers and aesthetic. I still have to workshop stuff like uhhhh her fuckin name and what her dad is (ruthless capitalist? old money who owns a ballet company? fuck man idk how do i translate a monster raven into just a dude) but overall the vibe of being slightly out of sync and yet fitting in fine is baked into her character (being an anime girl but technically being from Germany???) so like. fuck it we ball
Short Term & Long Term Plans: First of all, I'm not sure yet if she's better to bring in at her canon age of ~14 or instead as a young adult. I'm kind of leaning towards being a bit older since I haven't played her at that stage before and I think it'd be neat, but both are totally workable and it seems like we have a good spread of ages so she'd have peers either way. If you have strong feelings tell me them aaaa
Regardless everyone knows I'm a slut for friends and found family for a sadgirl. Developing as a Dreamer is going to be super important to Rue, but so will learning to be less determined and learning better work-life balance for mental wellness. I am a very go with the flow kind of player and am super open to most stuff, so if you have fun ideas I wanna hear them!
Desired CR/AU Castmates: Rue being isolated and lonely is key to who she is, so unfortunately she's not allowed to have any existing close friends/family. There's room for like one friend that is her unknowing lifeline to the outside world, so if you want a weirdly intense penpal or dream buddy who may or may not have developed a crush on you, let me know!
nobody asked me about this but funny story i decided connor was set to become a ballet dancer before the entire trajectory of his life was altered by becoming an influencer a Dreamer so it would be fun if they went to the same ballet school for a while and rue marches up to him like "you! you were the best fucking dancer at our school and i was going to force you to be my partner when i got older and then you quit dance" and he's like "did. did you track me all the way here to yell at me...?" and she's like "........ no. but it's an unexpected benefit."
the best part is this works if she's canon-ish age or slightly older because it's like. yeah of course she would know about the kid at her school who everyone said was going to end up at american ballet theatre or some other prestigious company. yeah of course she would just Decide that he was going to be her partner.
Rue!! Gosh, Tutu would be so great to see here! It's been forever but I still have my dvd collection for it. I'm excited to see Rue around. I only have Colette here but cr with them could be cute. Colette gives off a lot of Ahiru vibes with being a ditz and klutz actually now I think about it...
HELL YEAH it really warms my heart to see love for my two-decade-old baby. i never got very far in Tales of Symphonia but i remember Colette being really sweet! this is very exciting for me also because i intend to do black feather wings as a powerup visual so they're a neat visual foil ayyy
It's okay, Symphonia is about the same age lol. But yes, Colette is adorable and I more or less tried to keep things kinda similar for her. Luckily you won't need to worry about spoilers given she is au. I think the main thing for Colette is that I kinda tried to parallel the whole Angel Toxicosis situation with that messing with her health in the au with her not feeling pain.
Oh yes! The ballet theme look and the wings/feathers would be great for her Dreamer form though! I was tempted and debating on Sakura (Cardcaptor Sakura) instead but I wasn't sure if apping an actual magical girl might be a bit too obvious/on the nose so went with figuring an au for Colette instead haha. But I do think Tutu cast would fit in really well with this game!
